Osprey Farpoint 40L Volcanic Grey Backpack $140 Delivered @ Cotswold AU

161

Slightly higher than the deal posted last week but availability in black if you're not keen on a bright red bag while travelling! Both S/M and M/L in stock but I suggest you try it on in a store somewhere before you buy, I'm quite short but the M/L fit way better for me. Note it says volcanic grey but in reality it's basically black. Unfortunately doesn't look like there are any pick-up options so you'd just have to pay the $20 delivery fee, for $140 in total.

Great backpack for minimalist travel and fits under most (if not all) budget airlines size requirements for carry on luggage. The other main benefit is it opens up all the way like a suitcase. I used to have a top-loading rucksack and it's a pain when you're on the move and you need something at the bottom of your bag. If anyone is considering this and Osprey Porter 46L, I think they're both carry on compliant but I tried on the Porter in store with weights loaded and the bottom of the bag just sagged - it has no frame or cushion in the back so it doesn't hold its form that well and not as comfortable if you need to use it for longer than 30 minutes I'd say. Also the turtle shell design just wasn't for me. Also it costs more!

  • Nice find, Paddy Pallin only have it 20% off so this is better by $19.

    • Thanks, I actually tried it on at Paddy Pallin :)

      • Should have bought it there on a price match.

        • Based on Paddy Pallin's price match policy:
          * Competitor must have a physical retail store located in Australia

          I don't think Cotswold has a store here :(

    • I almost bought this at Paddy Pallin today too, but they only had red in stock and I won't be back in the city for at least a month. I saw this deal on Google shopping: perfect timing.

Hopefully Cotswold aren't as rubbish as their reviews indicate, at least for something straight forward like this. Order one bag, send same bag. Simple, right? crickets

      …right?

Old model. Same with Paddy Pallin. Only worth it if you love the colour.

Oh I didn't know it was an older model. How do you know? It looks like the same pictures as on the official Osprey website

I still think wiggles deal for $103 was great bang for buck despite being red. Judging by youtube videos that colour ain't so bad.

Yeah honestly if it was blue or something I'd take it, red is just a bit to flashy for me haha

Here we merged a suitcase with a backpack to give you the Osprey Farpoint monstrosity. 99% of people don’t really need this sort of combination. But people buy it because they think it’s cool.

    • But 1% of people do, so it is made for someone.

      • But a further 9% buy it unnecessarily.

Actually the suitcase feature (assuming you're talking about how it opens up all the way) is insanely useful for a frequent backpacker due to reasons I've outline above. This is also one of the most common backpacks I see amongst travellers so I'd say more than 1% of travellers need this combination :)

but they dont have the M/L size for the price. so…

    • Nice find! Too bad when I tried on the bag in store the M/L was noticably more comfortable than the S/M so I don't feel too bad :P

  • wow the reviews for cotsworld are so bad. they should be banned from oz bargain.

  • I had the caribee backpack that opened like a suitcase. Made the year on the road so much easier. Loved it. Shame backpacking is a thing of the past for me now.
