Luggage Storage for 3 Days in HK

Hi Guys,

Need some advice in relation to storing luggage in Hong Kong on our return flight from Mumbai to Melbourne.

I will be reaching Hong Kong International airport in the morning on the 12th of Jan. we are three of us (Two adults and a kid) and have 4 large luggage and 3 carry-on bags.

We’ll are staying at the Holiday Inn Golden Mile (Tsim Sha Tsui) for three days. Our carry-on bags are enough for us to survive our short break but I was looking at some options where I can store the 4 large luggage bags.

Should I just get a cab from Klook and go straight to the hotel with my luggage and keep the bags in the room or look for storage options close at the airport?
Any tips/ advice is appreciated. Thanks.

  • You can take the complimentary Airport Express Shuttle K3. It is running from Kowloon Station to Tsim Shs Tsui Mody Road. You can get off at Stop 1. The service hour is from 0615 to 2300, every 15 minutes. Or you can go to the following website to get more information http://www.mtr.com.hk/en/customer/services/complom_free_bus.….

… only after catching the Airport Express from the airport!

      • @scozbargain - thanks for clarifying that.

there is an airport express bus A21 from airport to your hotel. The bus starts at the airport so no rush to get on and there is space for luggage. You have to buy ticket for bus before you get on. Get octopus card at airport and use for bus fare, mcdonalds, 7-11, trains, ferry, many shops.

Is it normal to carry all the luggage on the train from the airport? Won’t it be inconvenient to other people?

I just came back from Hong Kong two months ago. I used the Hong Kong Airport Express Train service. It was so convenient. The Airport Express Train has racks or shelves for people to put their luggage suitcases. You should have no problem. It takes about 15 to 20 minutes from Hong Kong Airport Arrival Hall to Kowloon Station. Then, if you like, you can use their complimentary Airport Express Shuttle K3 to your hotel. The shuttle bus actually is like a van which can facilitate about ten-ish passengers. They also have luggage storage racks to put your suitcases but spaces are very limited. Of course, you can wait for the next bus to ensure there is enough storage space for you. Otherwise, if you want to use their taxi service, it will cost you about HKD30 from Kowloon Station to your hotel as it is just about 2km distance, not far, but it also depends on the traffic conditions as Hong Kong's road is always busy. But, I think you may need two cabs as you have 4 big suitcases. Also, if you decide to use the airport train, buy the train service on Klook as their prices are cheaper than the Airport Train official website. Hope it helps.

        • Thank you so much for the detailed response. Hopefully we’ll be fine.

We fly tonight! Will share how I go.

There is luggage storage on the arrivals floor of the Hong Kong airport. I think the charge is $140HKD (~26AUD) per luggage per day, on the pricier side but very convenient. Depending on how much luggage you have might be easier to take a cab and store it at the hotel(taxi will cost you about 250HKD one way).

    • 250 hkd is not bad for three of us for the cab. Challenge is to find a big cab….

You might be able to check your luggage in from the city on the way back if using the airport train and Tsim Sha Tsui is close to the station. Wouldn't be a big deal to carry your luggage to your hotel.

    • This is a good advice. Thanks.

If I can somehow take everything with me to the hotel, while coming back, I’ll check them in city.

  • bare in mind if you catch a taxi… not likely you'll fit 4 large, 3 carry on and 2 adults and a kid in a hong kong taxi, standard one that is… large people mover taxis are hard to come by

    • Damn. I was hoping to get into people mover just cause of the amount of the bags we have.

How about Klook cabs? They look big.

  • Airport lost property if you're looking for a free service

    • Lol this looks like a true Ozbsrgainer tip. Care to ellaborate? Thanks.

Don't pick it up from the carousel when you land. Hope for the best when you go back to the airport 3 days later

  • Hi All,

Just a quick note to thank you all for your assistance.

We were able to catch the metro from the airport to Kowloon Station, and then take the shuttle K3 right to the Holiday Inn.

Interestingly, both the train and the bus were empty so no issues at all.

The best part was that the metro stops for a couple of minutes at the airport station (in fact all station) so its easier to keep and take out luggage's.

Had a great trip to HK, especially Dinesy. Man that was awesome!

    Cheers all!
