**I couldn't find a motorcycle category!
Got rear-ended while waiting at the traffic light before Christmas, I flew like a bird and with a bit of huge luck I only lost my palm skin haha
I'm still without understand how he manages to do that which ended involving his Volkswagen Amarok and an Australia Post Office van as well, big sh1t.
100% sure he was way above the speed limit 50km/h and I suspect he was under influence of alcohol. He drove away before the cops arrived.
We exchanged details and I'll have to wait until next Monday to find out if the driver changed his story and blablabla
So far looking at the damage is worth $1.2k in genuine parts without including painting, etc.
The thing is, I changed my insurance plan from comprehensive to a third party only last year and I learned in the worst way that I made the most stupid mistake.
They won't do nothing if the guy decides to do nothing because I don't have the comprehensive one :(
As the cop at the Redfern Police Station said "he can do nothing if he wants, that is why you pay insurance for"
So far he seems to be taking the responsibility.
I am currently with AAMI but recently reading topis here I found out that AAMI seems to use the worst places to get things done so the same job has to be done twice or more and still pretty sh1t quality. Since it will expire soon it might be worth asking for suggestions.
A friend of mine rides a Harley which had a partnership with Swann and it is currently with QBE.
He had a great experience with Swann which after a damage worth $3k to his bike, got it covered without problems..
I was reading online reviews and I guess it was because of his Harley worth $6-7k or luck.
My 2013 Honda NC700SA with Swann is ~$500 for comprehensive while it is $1k with AAMI and NRMA.
If you are a rider, could you please share your experience?
Thank you guys
I'm with Swann and had good experiences with a recent claim. Someone attempted to steal my bike, but wasn't able to get it going. However they basically destroyed it in the process. They had it assessed and towed same week, with payout shortly after.
As for your situation, if he has full comprehensive (which as Auspost I would assume they all do?) and admits in writing he's at fault, you should be able to lodge a claim through his insurance to repair your vehicle - it just won't be as easy as having your own insurance. He can choose to do nothing to repair his own vehicle.
EDIT: Found this from a quick google https://www.finder.com.au/not-at-fault-car-insurance, see section 'I have no car insurance and someone hit me. What are my rights?'
