Can anybody please recommend the best cooling fan they have used? I recently had a tower fan that has given up.

how about the Xiaomi DC fan?
Never owned one, and with the Kogan running in room right now I doubt i'll be trying out another brand of fan for a while
Have the Xiaomi one (wifi app, no battery, DC motor). Whisper quiet, works with my smart home integration, and cools as well as any other fan I've tried, especially if I max it out (but not so quiet at those levels).
Fans don't cool the air, the cooling happens as perspiration evaporates from your skin.
What you're probably looking for is the fan that moves the most amount of air while being the quietest. In that case you probably want a large 12V pedestal fan.

Cooling by moving air and creating cooling via evaporation and convection is still cooling. Wind-chill factor is a thing, even indoors, unless ambient air temp is at or above 36-37 degrees.

Evaporative works quite well here. Much less energy requirements in comparison to air conditioning
only if it's hot dry condition.
Yeah I mean for AUSTRALIA it works well. For lots of Asian countries which are quite humid it isn’t as effective
maybe in NSW & VIC.
