Wait for Z490 with Comet Lake or upgrade now?

Just getting people's thoughts on whether I should upgrade to a Z390 Mobo with i9 or wait a few months for the Z490 with Comet Lake.
Will prices be astronomical when they release?
When is next round of sales happening to take advantage of the current products?

    I'm not that familiar with the i9s but would it be worth looking at AMD CPUs?

    AMD Yes.

    That is true regardless of whether AMD CPUs are an option for you. Just look at what AMD did to Intel's i9-10980XE price. Forced Intel to halve it, seriously.

    While waiting will generally give you some benefits, the same thing cannot be more true at this time. So yeah wait for the next gen is the way to go.

    Or simply with AMD. Again taking i9-10980XE for example, even halving the price still puts it behind AMD both in terms of performance and performance/price ratio. Comet Lake will be much better value, but I doubt it beats AMD's value.

    Knowing Intel it will just be more incrementalism so now is a good a time as any. Z490 won't even have PCIE4.0? That's available right now on AMDs desktop platform.
