Good info, thank you. I will relax and know that I'm not buying a new tv today (unless the 2020 models become available at the right price). That said can you please link the thread you're referring to? I'd like to have a read through it
Saw the C9 in person the other day, and my jaw dropped at how gorgeous that screen is. I have 4K LG & Samsung TVs from a few years back, and the difference in picture quality is like night and day!
I have a LG C7 from 2017 and looked at a C9 in person and there was no major noticeable difference in image quality.
It's probably the OLED that makes the huge difference (my TVs are 4K LCD 2015/16 models). I'll still just wait it out until one of the TVs is toast.
The X series won’t be on the market for months, and will take longer again to reach these prices. If you do nothing but wait, you’ll be waiting forever and you’re going to buy a TV that is guaranteed to be superseded in less than a year regardless of how long you wait for. The 11 series is going to improve on the X, so just keep waiting. And waiting.

Agreed, buy only if you really needed it and the price is right for you.
Agreed however I think it is noteworthy that to peoples eyes apparently the difference between a single generation is substantial. Not every new gen of a product or new model is necessarily a significant improvement. For example I don't miss early adopting a 4K resolution tv and not getting HDR as a result (I think it was barely on the market her if at all). But I do miss other things that came out in the near future after that.
I'm only waiting for 120Hz BFI, which it sounds like this has.
Combined with genuinely good upscaling, HDR tone mapping and filmmaker mode, this is a significant upgrade, to the point where they were showing off differences clearly at the show floor.
Keep this comment in mind before you dispense with my advice as being caught up in marketing hype.
You are most definitely caught up in the marketing hype.
No one has actually sat down with the CX series and properly reviewed them yet and even professional reviewers can't really tell how a TV performs on the floor in the environment at CES. Everything you are claiming about "substantial" or "significant" improvements is pure conjecture.
Calm down and actually wait for a professional reviewer like HDTVtest or RTINGS to review a CX unit.
@Dontreadthis: I've seen enough machine learning up-res to know what good looks like. People who have experimented with the TruMotion features have noted it is definitely brighter than last year's, which means at the very least there are granular BFI settings, if not 120Hz BFI.
These features are very welcome, and of course I am waiting for confirmation about 120Hz BFI, or did you not read my original post that I referred to from the 55" thread? Here it is:

Cheers for the neg though, hey
I've seen enough machine learning up-res to know what good looks like
But you haven't reviewed a CX and neither has anyone else, like I said everything you are saying is conjecture. Stop pretending.
@Dontreadthis: You're talking about upscaling algorithms built around perceived visual quality, not objective measurement… there's footage on the internet for you to judge image sharpness and clarity.
I'm not the one pretending.
@jasswolf: You can't perceive anything from a YouTube video at CES, stop pretending you can. You haven't tested the TV, no one has, stop acting like you know. You don't.
@Dontreadthis: You're right, we don't live in an age of 4k, 960 fps and HDR cameras and there'd certainly be no one capable with such devices at a trade show…
… wait a second…
@jasswolf: I'd genuinely love to see these cutting edge Youtube videos from CES of the CX that prove your claims of:
Substantial image and motion quality updates
Combined with genuinely good upscaling, HDR tone mapping… to the point where they were showing off differences clearly at the show floor"
There's footage on the internet for you to judge image sharpness and clarity
So for all 3 it would be impossible to "judge" the "differences" unless they had a C9 and CX next to each other and they were showing the same content at the same time and demonstrated all these features, I would genuinely like to see it because I'll probably be buying one this year. Please link us to this footage.
@Dontreadthis: First and third are easy enough if someone manages to film them with the right handheld cameras, and TV settings are able to be changed. There are smartphone cameras that can handle this.
Second one is more difficult due to the lighting, but you can still glean some level of functionality. A full objective review will use additionally use a colorimeter, lightmeters and tests across multiple facets in a controlled and consistent environment for comparison, using a variety of content.
RTings detail all of their testing procedures if you'd like to read about that, but you can determine things like BFI with the latest smartphone cameras as their frame rate would exceed the black frame insertion rate of this television. 4k and 8k cameras would provide enough detail for image sharpness analysis to determine an improvement on previous generations if there are nearby models for comparison or previous footage.
In terms of a direct comparison on the show floor, it seems I've misread an article from a couple of days back and the writer had not been directly comparing them side-by-side, so I'll leave it there on that front, but again I repeat: it's not hard to see upscaling and BFI improvements with cameras like the media would have access to.
That does not mean a full objective assessment can be made on the television, but surely that's enough (if it becomes available) for purchasing advice given a mediocre deal for this model.

We all make mistakes :)
@Dontreadthis: You've made about a dozen here, but cheers!
@jasswolf: What mistakes? I haven't made any claims at all about the CX unlike yourself.
So where are those YouTube videos? Oh right.. they don't exist lol.
@Dontreadthis: Mate if you can't google, I'm just going to keep doing this back and forth until you show your true colours.
Well, more than you have.
@jasswolf: Google the videos that don't exist that you got your fake information from? LOL
Great story mate! I'll leave you to write your next work of fiction. Have a good one!
@Dontreadthis: Hey mate, just a regular 2 minute check-in to see how your compulsive need to antagonise people when you feel inferior is going?
120Hz BFI now confirmed:
Can anyone comment on which is the best bang for buck 75in 200hz tv on the appliance central ebay site up to about $2200? Looks like i'd be choosing between samsung, hisense and LG
Looks like Hisense has 3 year warranty and the others only 12 months. This could be the deciding factor
Sorry but this is insanely wrong. Definitely LG and Samsung regardless of the warranty factor. Australian Consumer Law protects you. If you spend more than $2000 on a tv, you are covered for warranty beyond a year at least - even if the manufacturer says otherwise, you may just need got ACCC.
I was just going off the spec sheet there. Its been nearly 10 years since I've bought a new tv
@too_much_boost: My Sammy died after 7 years. Was top of the range when I bought it and paid around $2300. Spewing after spending so much only lasted 7 years
@vishmanj: 7 years is reasonable. Most would be itching to upgrade anyway.
@vishmanj: How much did you use it?
Looks like Hisense has 3 year warranty and the others only 12 months. This could be the deciding factor
With the new consumer law that doesn't matter they have to fix it anyway if anything gone wrong.
Ok so LG is 1750, Hisense is around the same, the Samsung 75Q60 is 2200. Is samsung worth the premium?
I thought Hisense was the darling of ozbargain
@too_much_boost: It is to an extent. Cause particular Hisense models and deals have got a good price to performance ratio. However OzB is a big community and part of that community craves a minimum standard of quality, if not the best or close to it. For that reason when it comes to tv it will often be a Samsung or LG beating any Hisense. I think.
@too_much_boost: We should match tv models rather than brands. Rtings.com is a good place to compare models.
Can this be price matched in good guys, harvey norman etc?
I don't think so.
You should try at Good guys. They have pricematched some ebay deals in the past (but it will be luck of the draw).
Thanks i will give it a try
@waltwhite: I just called my local store and they matched it over the phone. Picking it up tomorrow. :)
@matictac: Nice!! I had no luck though ,went to my local stores and they wouldn't match.
@waltwhite: That's unlucky. Maybe just try giving any other nearby stores a call?
@matictac: Yeah I'm gonna give that a try
@matictac: What store was it that you had the good luck with?
@waltwhite: North Lakes, near Brissy.
@matictac: Was it a Good Guys or Harvey Norman? cheers
@rdt: Good guys.
@matictac: thank you
@matictac: Which TV did you price match and what price did you get from Good Guys?
Thanks
@imrant18: I ended up getting the 65 inch B9 for $2385, pick up in store.
@matictac: Wow I called them and they denied me…
Perhaps you have a receipt you can share and maybe I can get myself one for that price thanks.
LG C9 has been out of stock in Good Guys and JB Hifi since December. Still havent got stock now. Maybe they're no longer making C9's ?
Yea I'm still waiting for my price error C9 65" to be in stock. Not sure what's happening.
Expect end of Jan to mid Feb
Just got a call today for delivery tomorrow!!! Yay!!!!
@onlinepred: Oh man! (But happy for you) Which store did you buy from?
@bluedez_man: MacGregor Brisbane.
Discontinuing the C8 and relying on B8 stock for several months before the C9 come out is what they did last year. It could be a repeat. It's interesting that TGG couldn't get stock to fulfill some C9 orders until end of Jan.
Just FYI I TGG called me as they got stock in for C9 65", delivery tomorrow.
Watch out for the TCL P8M series, mine has app AV sync issues (eg. YouTube app doesn't keep audio and video in sync) which seem to be a firmware issue and currently not resolvable.
Also touch cheaper here after $50 off code
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-TCL-65-2019-PREMIUM-SERIES-Q…
The TCL P8M truly has one of the worst user interfaces for any TV made in 2019. Seriously, just get something like a chromecast or nvidia shield and completely ditch using the software in that TV.
As per the 55" comments, there's been substantial image and motion quality updates with the CX models for 2020, so check those out before buying as this year's models will be cheaper (although probably not at launch), particularly for 65".
