I was thinking to get my kids a smart clock with Google.
Anyone have the Lenovo Smart clock? Good or Bad? Waste of money?

I have had one for a few months now. They are good but not great. Primarily use mine for an alarm clock and to play music. Speaker is on par with the google home mini. The clock screen has limited choice of displays, I use one that displays the weather. Setting alarms by voice is easy. Spotify song/album details are shown on the screen when playing. I have noticed some limitations in google searching that I don't notice so much on my mini. I think that I would be inclined to fork out a little extra for a home hub if you were after more functionality.
That is a good review, but it is only marketed as an alarm clock with a couple of related features. On that basis, it seems to do what it says on the box.
Just stayed with family they have Google home mini I am impressed with it.
So, mini or Lenovo?
I've had mine for awhile and have bought them for other members of my family.
If you want an alarm clock with some bonus basic smart device functions they are great.
They will respond to simple voice commands like setting alarms and timers, giving you weather and similar reports, playing internet radio and music, and simple searches.
I am pretty happy with mine.
So basically the hello Google thing is 100% same between Lenovo and Google mini?
Yep, same thing, seems to have a bit more bass. The rest of the Google home features function exactly the same, mines in a home group with the rest of the GH products. No issues
I see. But just realised price of Google home mini is like half of Lenovo (both during specials here on ozb) might get Google first just for fun.
Edit.. now I found there is second gen, Google nest mini…. Much better sound..third mic…
@CyberMurning: Judging by how the Lenovo picks up my voice, the mic would be more in line with the nest mini. Sound seems pretty close/better than OG. Lenovo is definitely an improvement on OG mini. Haven't set up my nest minis though to fully compare.
@Soluble: ok. will check gumtree for cheap or 2nd hand nest mini hopefully under or at $30. yes i dont really need table top alarm clock so as long the voice assistant feature is the same quality then ill pick the cheaper options
The one for $69? I grabbed one from TGG a couple of weeks ago. As good as a GH mini with a clock screen basically.
