I believe you misunderstood the OP. What you've shown is you are donating your data to a charity whereas the OP is sharing data between users. e.g. from my Optus account to someone else's Optus account

Is not donating it, sending it to another person, just someone you don't know ;)

I understood it. I was just saying that they let you donate it(can gift it to people you don't know). It's obvious that they don't let you gift it to friends and family otherwise less customers would choose the larger phone plans.

Some telcos have previously allowed it. It cutting into their profits is probably why they have discontinued it.

  • Virgin mobile use to have that option. Data gift another virgin mobile

No because then I'd get harassed to send data to friends/family when theyve run out.

    • No,… it’s just that simple.

Also Great for supermarkets, Toy stores, Candy stores and drink drivers

  • Lebara has it.

  • lol hackers would clean out everyone's account

  • optus can data share on the same account so i dont know why they cant do this. i have 3 mobile phones 1 data share sim and an ipad with data sim and they all use the combined data of all services.

and as the above member said that you can donate data as well….. im still baffled by how you donate something liek this though.

  • Technically it's trivial - just changing numbers in accounts. But practically it'd be a nightmare and ripe for hackers, fraudsters, moochers, etc.

Plus - bigger data packages are usually cheaper per GB, so this lets people effectively just always go with the bigger plans and save instead of buying separately and paying more.

    For telcos, that'd be a lose-lose.

  • I think the data driven model is stupid, so no. But I do find it handy with belong
