Recommend a GoPro or Equivalent, Budget $400

Will use it on the rare occasion of snorkeling/ swimming. Is a 2nd hand GoPro a good buy, and what to look out for?

Cheers

DJI Osmo action is just as good if not better then GoPro 7 black / competes with the 8 and can be had for less then 400 easily

    Hope that helps!

The item description of the Cosmo on Cameras Direct is a riot!

Apparently the DJI osmo action may have an issue with water damage?

I've seen the GoPro 7 Black drop below $400 before; and the 8 Black around $436

I'd recommend the 7/8 Black models; the White/Silver models had a lot of features cut and are not really any better than the 4 Silver IMHO - that and the battery is not removable in those models

    • But for seldom use Silver should be ok?

      • Probably would be fine, you can’t change the battery on it and it’s really restricted to shooting in 4k or 1440p only (strangely enough no HD 1080p) but will do the job

The stabiliser also isn’t as good as the Black but it does still have a basic one

      • Having a look at multiple generations of GoPro footage, I would suggest the Hero 7 Black, as the image stabilisation is a game- changer; previously non image-stabilised footage would make me motion sick, but not with the Hero 7 Black. Hero 8 Black has even better stabilisation but may be beyond your budget.

Slightly above budget but I'd get this:

U get an extra battery, 2 mounts and a 32gb SD card.
