Selected Frames + Prescription Lenses (Including Sunglasses) $80 Delivered / In-Store @ Bailey Nelson

280

What a time to be alive for short-sighted people like myself! Who doesn't want to have 2020 vision?! Significantly cheaper than the already reasonable RRP of $145-175.

EDIT: The sale has now changed to 2 Pairs for $120 which is a cracking deal if you get both clears and sunnies.

They seem to have this $80 sale about twice a year. This time I managed to find both clears and sunnies for $260 ($100 extra for polarised sunglasses - IMO worth it)! Very good choice for people without private health (or with private health) as Bailey Nelson frames are IMO stylish, cheap, and fairly good quality. My last pair of Homers are still going strong after 2 years. I originally visited the store to replace lenses only ($100) but buying new frames + lenses works out to be cheaper with this sale.

I recommend going to the store to find the right style. Plus, there also seems to be different models on clearance from store to store because I couldn't find one of the models I chose on the online store.

Turn-around time (machining the lens) was stated to be around 10 days. Comes with a case and microfiber cloth to sweeten the deal. 12 month warranty against manufacturing defects.

Clip-on sunnies (polarised) for Wells/Joyce models for $35 - Bargain if you own those models

From website: Selected frames while stocks last, no rainchecks. Sale runs from 13:00 AEDT Dec 24, 2019 until 23:59 AEDT Jan 14, 2020. Sale price includes standard 1.5 index optical lenses for optical frames, or non-prescription polarised lenses for sunglasses. Additional treatments such as high index lenses, transition lenses, prescription polarised lenses, and blue light filters will incur extra charges. Please see the terms and conditions for further details.

  • I just purchased a full pair of glasses for $130 from B+N! I paud an extra $50 for a blue light filter as I do a LOT of screen time, but I have NEVER paid so little for glasses in my life! And the hard coating and anti reflective come included!!!

    • I think they're great. I happily paid $135 for my Homers two years ago and I would happily pay full price again if it weren't for this sale! Grabbed a pair of Palmer/Parker (same frame different name) for $80 this time

      • PHI COVERED THE WHOLE GODDAMN THING I AM NOT $200 OUT OF POCKET I DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW MY GLASSES DIDN'T COST $400

          I DON’T KNOW WHAT WE’RE YELLING ABOUT!

@bobbyd: sorry, just excited that glasses were SO CHEAP.

@bobbyd: large font … until glasses arrive.

Many online stores charge $10 or $20 for blue light filter. Some Titanium frames are normally under $50.
The actual material cost of a pair of glasses is under $50 or less. Go figure.

  • I wonder how much extra they will sting me for my -4.5 sil…

    • One of my eyes is -3 and I also have a 4B0 prism - price was the same. (it is entirely possible I have no idea what I am talking about)

    • $100. other sites like clearly let you choose whether you want standard or high index

      • No choice except high index for all my glasses for almost 20 years now. They won't make them in standard because they'd be too thick and heavy.

        • i opted for standard when i got my frameless titanium oakleys done almost 12 years ago. still wearing them and i don't find them heavy. the ray ban 2132 rx sunnies with 1.61 index (which isn't even that thin compared to standard) feels a lot heavier.

    Combine with 15% off unidays?

    • Anyone know if this works?

i went in there once and by the time they added extra cost for grinding my lenses and the simple coatings - worked out more expensive than going to spec savers and getting 2 pairs…
which was a shame as i really liked their frames.
maybe things are better now - that was years ago

    • The hard coating and antireflective coating were included in my quote

      • 260 each or in total for 2 pairs?

        • I paid 130 total for 1 pair including lenses, frame, anti-blue, anti reflective, anti scratch

        • $260 for 2 pairs:
          1 x clear for $80 complete
1 x prescription sunglasses with polarized lenses for $180 (polarized is worth it IMO) - you can just get UV coating for $80 if you prefer. Or if you don’t need a prescription then they chuck in polarized lenses for no extra

          • @bobbyd: don't you find that polarized make it hard to read your gps or your phone?

    • +1

use clearly. 40% off for new users. pretty cheap.

  • Plus for the write up.

I paid $160 for 2 pairs @ Goggles4U with all coating and high index lens, Titanium frames, shipped. Quality is more than good enough. One had a slight issue with a nose pad, sent an email, they're going to send me a replacement for free.
Which will cost me more here for one pair for my prescription

I have Bupa health cover and for years I have been eligible for $200 optical.
I usually pay no gap from Specsavers with the any 2 pairs for $199.
Bailey Nelson put the codes through and advised I was only eligible for $150… still not bad to be out of pocket $10 for 2 standard pairs.

It’s true, this year everyone gets 2020 vision.

    Hi OP,

Just an update, they just started the sale today for 2 for $120. Bought a prescription glasses(blue light filter +$50) and prescription sunnies(polarised $100) for total of $270.

    • I’ve sent them an email about getting the difference back and will update you with their reply. The two pairs I bought were both clearance
