BenQ W6000 1080P Projector $1997 + Free Cable - $50 Postage @ The Cable Connection

110

Hi Guys and Gals,

Just like last time I have managed to secure an unbelievable deal on some brand new, Australian delivered Benq W6000 projectors. They come with Full Australian Warranty from Benq Australia (Not some grey imports like some!!) but the offer has been sweetened a little for OZBargainers…

This deal now comes with a free 10M Platinum HDMI cable at no extra charge!
Making this already sensational deal just that little bit sweeter!'

http://thecableconnection.com.au/10-metre-HDMI-Cable---TCC-P…

These are referred to in the home theatre industry as a "Light Cannon" as they are so bright you could just about use them in full daylight.

I am not going to bore you with the specs, but if you are like me and love the numbers then have a look at this link:

http://benq.com.au/product/projector/w6000

Check out shopbot, getprice, myshopping.com.au … this is a massive saving of $2000 off the RRP (not that it really matters as no one pays RRP) and betters most prices online by more than $600 (and up to $1000 in a lot of cases)! It is also over $900 better value than my previous price.

Pickup is of course free … I have store in 2 locations now:

Melbourne - 1 International Crt, Scoresby

or

Sydney - Unit 4 / 1a Coulson Street, Erskineville

… and postage to capital cities is $50 (Outside a capital city will need a quote but should be only a little more depending on remoteness)

If you have any questions regarding this product, or any that I sell please feel free to contact me on (03) 9763 1000, by email at [email protected] or in store.

Lets see this one get to the front page :)

What's the bulb life like on these modern projectors? That's always been the thing that scared me from purchasing in the past.

    • +3

2-3000 hours apparantly i use mine a few hours a week(only needs to be on eco mode), that would apparanlty last 1000 weeks(19 years) even if i used it a few hours a day… 21 hours a week it would last about 3 years.

      • +1

Really? That's pretty good! I was thinking 800-1000 hours. Thanks for the quick reply :)

The Bulb life is really quite good.

If you use it in economy mode it is 3000 hours and in bright mode 2000 hours.

For the average user thats a good 3 - 5 years of viewing.

The other goods news is that Benq now offer a 1 year or 1000hour warranty from new on their lamp and a full 3 year factory warranty on the rest of the unit!

      • Things have come a long way it seems. Thanks for the info. Hmmmm this makes it a lot more appealing!

Got myself one of these on the previous post. Awesome unit and price and Matt is great to deal with. Btw - don't be scared off by DLP - the tech in this unit is sufficiently advanced that DLP artifacts are very, very rarely ever visible. Even then only minor. Running a 150" screen and it looks sensational.

i use mine on a 100" screen with the lights on… man this thing is a light cannon.

do notice the rainbow on the very odd occasion, but its not annoying at all as its so small and rarly occurs due to the 6x colour wheel.

  • I bought the same item before. Also Matt is great to deal with. Good product and best customer service. Could not ask for more :)

  • Man I wish this deal was on in a couple of months :(

  • Matt would sure be happy to hear comments on customer service. He is indeed a great guy to deal with.

    Awww shucks!!

    Thanks guys … :)

@dutchman - happy to talk about payment plans if you like.

  • Thanks Matt,

I won't be in my new crib for like 4 months and was going to look at a projector closer to then. This would have been right up the Alley.

Are there any crazy new projectors coming out in the next 4 months that will exceed those currently on the market?

  • This may sound like comparing apples to oranges, I'm not sure, but how does this match up compared to the Benq PE8720? (which is what I currently own). Obviously it is a better machine, but is there a night and day difference or?
I ask as my 8720 produces a sensational pic, and one that is a lot better than some of the 1080p projectors I have compared it to around the same time when demoing them.
This was a few years ago though, and I have been out of the scene since then, as I was so happy with the 8720, so I am not really sure how much things have changed/improved etc.

  • Sorry for this really dumb question…But…what is the advantage/disadvantage of buying this projector over a TV? I am building a house and have a lounge room that will be good for watching movies and TV shows. I was just going to put a big LED/plasma on the wall. I know nothing about projectors so can you please enlighten me to their pros and cons versus a big TV? thanks Steve

size vs ambient light affecting the screen,

projectors are great when you have a large room that is light controlled, the w6000 definatly takes away some of the issue of light controlled room, but you still get a better picture in a dark room.

major plus though is the size- for me its worth the trade off…

ohh other thing is that the projector globe will last about 2-3 years of heavy use… the plasma/LCD will probably last more without needing a new globe..(which are about 400 bux)

again it comes back to size… where are you going to get a 100"-170" TV for 2K?

      • Thanks Wisc…follow up really dumb question…I take it you can't watch Free to Air TV shows on a projector (like the footy)? You are just watching movies off your computer, dvd's, blu-rays etc? is this right?

        • hook it up to a digi box and you can…..

  • Spot on - a HD set top box is the best way to go for the picture - nothing better than watching the Grand Final in 120" Full HD glory!

    • Thanks Matt. This is starting to sound like it could be a good alternative.

      1. Where is the projector positioned? on a coffee table? in the ceiling?
      2. Where is the HD set top box positioned?

Our original plan was to run all the TV and data cabling back to a centralised comms rack in our garage and wall mount the "big TV". Could there be a similar set-up for a projector? I'm trying to figure out where do you cable for a projector?

Also, if you could refer me to a link just on general projector information that would be greatly appreciated.

      cheers, Steve

      • Hi Steve,

It is entirely up to you…Most people choose to mount them to the ceiling in a fixed fashion with a dedicated screen but you can also make it completely portable by placing it on a coffee table and just projecting onto a wall. (makes for great times at other people houses!)

The HD box can be as close or as far away as you like. This is connected to the projector by a HDMI cable (most likely - depending on the model you buy) and can be up to 10 metres away.

You can do a central media point for a projector too - just think of it as a really big TV with no speakers :)

If you would like to send me a copy of your plans I could help you with a cable structure too.

As for good websites on projectors there are a few around but to start with you could try www.projectorcentral.com or for some more in depth you could just try googling the model you are looking for.

        Cheers,

        Matt
