I too, need one in Sydney.
Me 3
It was on sale back in October/November in Sydney. Looks like they just shifted the remaining stock to VIC.
Every man needs a torque wrench, last thing you want to do is to overtighten your nuts
Especially when you get married
Most are kept safe, in her handbag.
This is gold, guys :-)
@SurprisedPanda: This is not gold, guys :-(
@ashanrath: … she says …
@SurprisedPanda: more like brass
Ha! I had no nuts before I met my wife. So the jokes on her! Winning.
Nah thats a vice grip when you get married
A bistoury rather …
Lol, that’s a good one
This deal will get everyone torquing.
Torque is cheap!
All torque but no action.
Shit that's actually a decent model. Bought that exact same one from one of the car shops around a few years back for a helluva lot more.
Could be this one from a few months ago.
Lots of links and discussion around the traps. Can't guarantee they're all the same, of course.
Agreed.
I tested mine, and it was within 5% of the snapon my mates workshop had.
Not perfect, but thats damn well close enough for anything i build.
Im only doing car engines.
Hoping Brissie has some. Need to torque my (car) nuts.
Can I use this for my bike? Or does the bike require one with a different torque range?
Check the (motorbike) manual
Needs to be much lower for a bicycle.
Mine is 2NM to 24NM torque range.
Two clicks of the wrist. Job done.
Useless for any carbon components.
Great deal, hopefully some available in Sydney.
I bought one of these last time Aldi had them, and I can highly recommend. Tested it against my old wrench, and it matched the settings pretty much perfectly.
They also had small ones last time, but I missed out on one, would love it if they came around again.
I also bought it on one of the previous sales in Aldi - at least the box looks identical - and it was made in Germany actually. Very decent quality.
Remember to store your torque wrench at the lowest possible non-zero setting
Too much to remember… Pass.
Oh does it have to be non-zero? I dialled mine all the way back to zero…
Yeah it's to ensure the ball bearing inside the wrench is not free to move around
Got it, and it did say to dial it back to 60NM after use. Hopefully I didn't kill it.
@ymmf: As long as it's still clicking it's all good
Working range: 28-210Nm (measuring tolerance)
Does someone have a calculator that can convert this to ugga duggas ?
1 Ugga = 1.6 Fappa
Can confirm.
My previous wheel/tyre supplier used to use all of them.
That is cheap
Not sure where the 28-210Nm spec came from but they are actually 60-210. Maybe it only changed on the last lot?
The one I bought from Aldi over a year ago is 28-210Nm but yeah the OP’s photo shows 60-210Nm on this one
Al di torque is cheap
I can't find the 10mm socket version.
You can use other 0.5" drive sockets with this, or use 3/8" drive adaptor.
To test these properly you will need to place a weight at about 1 foot from the centre of the socket spindle….might have to convert nm to kgs per feet. And in needs to be tested over a range of settings to see if it is 'in spec'…..i have a 30 yr old cheapy like this and it varies wildly depending on the setting. I now always double check it by hanging a bucket from the notch on the handle (1ft) with the required weight to check im torquing to the required need….not much fun snapping bolts or having a head gasket not torqued correctly

They had some at Aldi Glen Waverley yesterday too.
None at Cranbourne.
Did have this stuff, though.

Will check other stores today/tomorrow.
None of these or anything similar at Hampton Park or Lyndhurst.
I got this torque wrench yesterday, but was surprised (more like didn't read and Ozbargained) that this only goes from 60-210Nm rather than 28-210Nm. Bunnings have a torque wrench that goes from 28-210Nm for like $30.
Not sure if I should return this and pay more for a wrench with more range, or just keep this since 60-210Nm would be more accurate with closer range (I have no idea about torque wenches), then get a 1/4" wrench for smaller bolts?
Yeah good point! The picture in this post actually aligns to what you are saying (60-210Nm), so the description in the post is incorrect! Please update post OP!
Sorry silly question, but do you need a separate display to read the torque figure or is there a garage on the wench itself?
Anyone see any around Sydney region?
