Kogan - Deceptive Slipper Tactics or Just Blind Cheating?

Ordered $300 Kogan gift cards on 18/12, for their 10% off deal. Got the email receipt for payment but no gift cards or codes. Waited waited waited…. nothing.

Finally emailed customer support saying please send my gift cards. They replied they would chase it up, and said please do not make any further follow up contact or you'll go to the back of the customer resolution queue…just wait for us to get to it. So I wait.

Today I get this…

Hi there,

Thanks for your ongoing patience in this matter.

We have been advised by our third-party eGift Card provider that this transaction failed.

I sincerely apologise that we were not able to provide this information to you earlier.

The eGift Card was therefore not sent, and any charge you may have received for the eGift Card should now have been reversed.

If you still have a payment pending or if payment was taken from your account, could you please send a screenshot of this through to us?

We will use this to investigate this issue further with our eGift Card provider.

Please let me know if you require any further assistance, I'll be more than happy to help.

Kindest regards,

Rachel K

these Bstrds have to be joking! I've bought a few thousand bucks worth of stuff from their site over quite a few years, but no more! It seems like Russel Kogan and his business trust value is zero. Merry Christmas, hope you enjoyed your latest Ferrari while I sat round waiting for Christmas gift cards.

GRRRRR is an understatement

You've spent thousands at Kogan and only just realised how dodgy they are with poor customer service? Consider yourself quite lucky.

      Must've bought some Hyundai airconditioners

It's Ruslan Kogan, not Russell. And how did you get this far before figuring out how shite they are?

  • theyre under no legal obligation to honor the deal.

    • err….then what makes a contract, other than offer and acceptance>

      • invitation to treat

        • errr… an invitation to treat is inviting someone to do business… in this case Roguean advertising egift cards @ 10% off.
I made an offer to deal, by contacting Roguean and "buying" the egift cards.
Roguean accepted that offer by sending me a tax invoice for the transaction acknowledging receipt of payment.
          Simple, Davo.

@rooster7777: Then they were unable to supply you the product due to an issue with a third party and therefore refunded you in full. They don’t owe you any more than that. Also, stop supporting dodgy companies like Kogan.

          • @rooster7777: haha ok, take it to court then

          • @rooster7777: Yes there was a contract, but at the same time, you won't win your case in court

Let's assume what CS Team says on 2 Jan is true
Kogan.com did not directly sell you the gift cards
It's sold by a "third-party eGift Card provider"
yes we all know it's BS, they just smartly set up another company to avoid legal responsibility in scenario like this
but still, it's legally a third party.
Now the 3rd party is currently out of stock
Even a 3 years old knows the supplier is Kogan.com, it's them who stop issuing gift card to the "3rd party"
but it's the retailer who can't provide you the goods, not the supplier. And you don't have a contract with the supplier
So the retailer has already done what they are required by law, refunded you in full
There is nothing you can do
What a great start of 2020

Just stop buying from them (and Harvey Norman), we all know they are doggy.

    Just avoid Kogan.

  • To any people that think it's OK for companies to not comply with comsumer law and good business practices, then you have my sympathy for your disdain of the financial services Royal Commission. I guess you reckon that was a totally inappropriate venture, and that any of the public silly enough to use banks, insurance, or superannuation services deserved some of the horrible treatment they got. It must be so frustrating for you to hear of people expecting a legal system to work.

    • Calm down

No one said it's "ok", they just simply said that what happened is covered by their terms and conditions. There's no breach of contract or anything you can sue for.

Should we get the manager, Karen?

    • They refunded you in full, pretty sure they complied fully with consumer law…

  • I had unexpectedly good experience last week where they agreed to do full refund on Kogan First subscription. I forgot to cancel subscription within 14 days but they agreed to do full refund when I requested it.

    Already receive the refund.

Don't neg me as this was unexpected experience.
