all those files with the *.xz file extension must be extracted first to get the *.img file

no point flashing LineageOS17 (Android10) as there's no GAPPS available yet

Also whats missing in the instructions for our Telstra version is, before you go to fastboot/bootloader to flash the new rom, you must first enable adb in the recovery (last option) in addition to turning on usb debugging in developer settings

Will this works with updated firmware? There was a thread few months back that wrks with old firmware but not the latest one.

  You probably mean this one as it's the same android version as what came with the phone (Android Go / Android 8), but this one is full Android8:

    That firmware contains root already, I was able to update /vendor/protect_f/md/ST33_004 to unlock.
