Good deal! The sandisk 32gb one is $4 if you need more storage. Same costs per gb.

got OW to price beat on last deal. true bargain spirit. :)

    • Pity it's a limit of 3 there.

      • Bought 5 from Officeworks.

        • Lucky you! I almost got away with buying 7 at the second store I went to.

Turns out there's a note that appears onscreen saying there's a limit of 3, but it doesn't block the transaction. It's up to the team member to see it and only allow the customer to purchase that many.

don't the cruzer blades have painfully slow write speeds?

    • Usb 2.0 so yes

      • +6

There's much more to it than just the protocol.
These transfer at 4-6MB/s (I bought a few last deal), whereas USB2 protocol allows up to ~30MB/s in the real world.

        • +1

Yeah, I got these and they are not good for productivity. It takes around 30 mins to move 4GB.

It's alright for documents, but any media or large dataset of any kind and it falls apart.

          • @Debuting: Depends what you use it for.
I am never in any rush when transferring media so it doesn't annoy me (much).
If you're the kind of person that is tapping their foot while waiting for files to transfer you probably wouldn't be using 16gb drive regardless.

    • Yes they do

Also $2 on Amazon AU for the black one.

Thanks for that. Added to title & OP :)

        Not available any more

Amazon is the best. No need to leave home.

These are great for USBs you don't expect back. Like giving photos to someone, work/school/uni projects etc.

At $2, it's expendable. Picked up a couple from last time.

    Christmas presents for 2020 sorted!

  • is this price fixing?

    • +10

Gerry owns the first three, so it’s more consistency. Amazon are just trying to piss off Gerry.

    • No

Price fixing is an agreement between participants on the same side in a market to buy or sell a product, service, or commodity only at a fixed price, or maintain the market conditions such that the price is maintained at a given level by controlling supply and demand.

  • Great post. Cheers!!!

  • Cheers, picked some up for work.

Picked 4 different colored ones so I can store different Windows & Linux ISOs!
    Thanks!

  • Pity its a limit of 5

So I ordered 5 from my account and 5 from the wifes account

What's the chance of office works price matching this?

    • +1

For a saving of 10 cents? Or for more stock?

      • More stock

    • They'll price beat if they haven't lowered their price to match already.

    • Just did a price beat at Officeworks. Unfortunately there's a limit of 3! (That limit exists even at full price.)

These have a bad build quality.

The drives are all plastic so especially on tight USB ports it can be easy to break the plastic USB connector on the drive.

  • Can't seem to ad to cart for amazon.

  • these are so slow, probably better off buying a portable ssd or even sd card for your phone

    • +1

They are great though for OS installers, repair/book disk, if you need to give some one files and dont expect to see it again etc

      • yeh i mean 10 years ago i used these, but nowadays i mostly just use my phone to transfer files, and its way faster than what this drive can achieve

for OS install you can mostly do it without usb if you google around, i still have my windows install files on my harddrive, from which it was installed

you can get a 128gb portable ssd for ~$35, and these are in the order of 100x the speed:

Yea they are just handy to have around for $2, got plenty of fast storage options just nice to have something you dont care if it never comes back or gets destroyed.

USB2.0 is also better most of the time for things like bios upgrades

  • LOL USB 2.0, comeon someone had to say it

  • "Hi Thanks for placing your order with us. However after careful review, we have decided to not accept your order. We apologise for any inconvenience." ..ok

    • +1

      Which store is this?

    • And how many did you try to purchase?

  • +1

Just saw these for $5 on the front page of the new Big W catalogue. Right under where it says "Back to school 10% price beat guarantee. If you find a lower price on school supplies, we'll beat it by 10%"

T&Cs apply but they specially include data storage. In store only, sale starts 2nd Jan.

Might be helpful for people who can't get to one of the other stores and don't have prime.

    • Bigw have the cruiser spark but HN is cruzer blade. So they may not beat it?

  • Still plenty at Melbourne QV store for those interested. Bought 4 various colors (limit looks like only on the black through website) so I don't think they care about quantity limits.

    • May I ask why?

  • Amazon available again on backorder

    • Can't see any option to buy at $2, either outright or on backorder. Tried logged out and logged in. Don't have Prime so don't know if that's a factor.

Did you already have some in your cart?

      • Seems to be gone again now

Wasn't in cart, simply added and bought - it said estimated 1-2 months.

Thanks TA - grabbed a few!

    Happy New Year!

  • Thanks - these are the best for OS boot drives! Much more reliable on USB2.0.
