Rediculous price for this camera. Goes toe to toe with the Sony A7 iii.

I bought this recently and it's an outstanding camera.

  • Do I need a second one?

  • What are the best lenses for this camera? Currently using the 23 1.4 and looking to buy the next one.

What are you looking at shooting? The general standouts are

18-55mm for an amazing kit lens. People still keep this for video work. OIS is great with the X-T3

56mm F1.2 is the portrait lens of choice. My favourite
90mm F2 is another popular one

16-55mm F2.8 has its pros over the 18-55mm but also some cons like no OIS. Just picked this up

16mm F1.4 is an outstanding, sharp wide-angle. Can do street and portraiture too.

The prime F2 range is great, super-fast auto-focus etc. Was using the 50mm F2 extensively for action/portraits until the 56mm.

completely depends on what type of photography you do.

the 16mm f1.4, 35mm f1.4, 56mm f1.2 and 80mm f2.8 macro are all amazing primes for the system though, and so is the 35mm f2 for a more compact and affordable alternative.

the zooms I don't really have much experience with apart from the good (but probably still overrated) kit lens, but it doesn't sound as though any of them are stinkers.

    • I do almost all types of photography except for landscape and real estate. I shoot portrait sometimes, and then street sometimes and 40% of the time I do videos. Should I get the kit lens then? What would be the reasonable price for a 2nd hand kit lens?

well it also depends what type of video you do as well to be honest. If you're doing all sorts of photography the kit lens would definitely make a good, cheap foil to your 35mm.

my video scenarios are more controlled and I prefer using manual lenses with proper focus rings.

        • You're right. I'm a run and gun, hobbyist video guy so a zoom lens would fit my need perfectly I reckon.

          • @trantonz: Yep, the AF on the kit lens is quick and quiet, and the slightly lower resolving power as compared to the high-end primes is far less apparent when shooting video.

The new 16-80mm f4 is an even better choice if you can swing the cash though. Will serve you much better as a portrait lens too.

if you want photos for Instagram then 18-55mm is a good option. But Fuji shines very well in theur F/1.4 lens. I would avoid 27mm too because of the focal range - Super easy to carry around but not a great option for travel photography. Grab 16mm F/1.4, and 52mm F1.4 as your first two lenses.

  • Its an great camera for 4k 60fps video.
