Bedding & Linen - Which Sheets Do You Use? Thoughts on Silk Pillows?

So many choices, thought with the sales it would be a good time to invest in sheets and return the college hospital ones. So many choices though… Organic cotton, normal cotton, egyptian cotton, sateen cotton, percale, tencel, linen, bamboo.

Heard bamboo is amazing and feels like silk, though cotton is classic.
Budget $100 for a set. What would you get? What was your first sheet set?

Heard there are companies out there with a 30/60 day returns policy, does anyone know of one?

P.S Are silk pillowcases a scam? They range from $50 to $100. Read they're hard to care for though.

Edit - Whoops, forgot sizing, I'm single(fitted)/king single (flat).

Silk bedding? Are you running a slip and slide, or a porno shoot?

    Bamboo cotton all the way

Silk or microfibre bedding is the devil. Be in them before, and hated them.

For $100, get a set of Sheridan 500/400TC Cotton Sateen when they are on sale at the Sheridan Outlet.

Otherwise, bamboo cotton is also really nice.

  • Your budget is too low for 100% bamboo sheets (unless you don't mind odd colours). Companies like ettitude and ecosa have trial periods I believe. I have a set of ettitude ones, they do feel nice but they are very prone to creasing. They also require more delicate care (lower wash temps, gentle wash etc.) which is annoying because my boyfriend's head/face is just so greasy and the lower wash temperatures can't dissolve the oils. Same for silk pillowcases. I have a set from ecosa. They are really nice, I can't really say that it's better for my skin/hair, but I like the feel. The care for them is similar to pure bamboo.

I would just go for pure cotton sheets. I like adair's "world's softest".

    • Thanks, I found the adairs sheets for $80 a set online, hoping to find them instores tomorrow. :)

  • Boll and Branch - but a bit out of your price range, even with promo code 'Ben'.

  • Silk pillowcase are supposedly better for your skin, and don't cause you to wake up with creases on your face. Don't use them myself, but some women in my family love them.

They don't seem too hard to care for. They go into the washing machine on a "delicates" cycle and come out ok. Air-dry only though.

  • SILK is crap.

  • You haven't indicated what size bedding you need??

Linen & bamboo are my preferences - good quality fibres are very exxy tho.

Cotton sateen would be better suited to your budget - 400TC as anything higher may be too dense for summer (unless you sleep with the a/c on)

I'm not aware of any stores offering returns on sheets that have been used unless they are faulty.
