Was at myer eastland (VIC) when heard an announcement that they will be extending boxing day sale till today 9 pm because of the EFPTOS issues that happened on boxing day. i beleive this might be nation wide , because yesterday when they were having issues they said it was nation wide, though not 100% sure if its nation wide so call and ask before going
Somebody needs to develop a system where you can online buy, in store, as an instantaneous click and collect. Would reduce the queues as the purchase has been done, there just has to be a tally check between the online purchase and the goods being taken.
Well Myer is one of the very few online retailers that offer 4 hour click and collect for clothing and such if it is in stock so that's the best they can do I guess
Just thinking if someone developed this then crashing the cash registers may not be such an issue, particularly if the online site is still up. Also, you could do all the payment outside the queue and then just have to get the purchase, and the physical goods, tallied up.
Self checkout would be a better way and just have 1 attendant to check the goods vs receipt and remove security tags.
Yes, but the self checkout is, probably, aligned to the internal cash register system. I’m looking at a separate way of doing this with direct internet access. I do agree with the “just an attendant” idea though.
