  • Stack with Shopback Amazon 12% cashback for further savings.

Looks like 12% cashback has ended so probably more like 3.5% … Still a good deal though

    • Ah yep, you're right. Thanks and edited in post.

  • I'm just wondering, in order to use these I would need for my home theater amp to have bluetooth as well? Or is there a 'dongle' nowadays that can be used on amps without bluetooth?

    • +2

Bit silly to use these with an amp. These have an amp built-in. Get a pair of unpowered passive speakers to use with a home theatre amp.

      • +1

This. The passives will sound better in that config than the active pair without RF bypass.

& yes, there's a hardware BT RX/TX hack for older receivers without it. See TaoTronics gear for reliable affordable ones.

        • Thanks for the info :)

I am hoping to expand my hard-wired speakers to an additional pair of wireless surrounds behind my seating position for when I watch a nice DTS 7.1 movie. But I want to avoid dragging even more cables across the room, it's bad enough as it is with 5.1 surround.

My amp has the 7.1 outputs for the speaker cables but I prefer wireless if possible.

          Cheers

          Pookie

          • @pookie: Maybe good idea in theory, but i would expect the mix of cable and wireless would result in audio delays to the wireless channels. Unless your AV amp can adjust delay on individual channels, i suspect it may drive you crazy.

            • @damion: Hi, I believe it can :)

              • @pookie: In that case, your amp would also need a pre-out for the two surround channels to connect a Bluetooth transmitter for these speakers.

                • @damion: Hmm ok, I will check if it has that. Thanks :)

why the right speaker for black and brown has completely different design?

    • +1

      Grille off/on.

  • How are these compared to the 1700 that was on sale yesterday?

    • +2

These don't have the boominess of the 1700. You can't really get rid of it either, even with base dial turned right down. On the other hand, the higher watt amp of 1700 means it doesn't distort when loud, whereas this speaker does.on the other hand when 1700 is loud it lacks bass. I think this speaker is the better all around product, and 1700 would win if it didn't have the overloaded mid range bass

  • I got these recently and I'm using them laying down due to space restrictions. The left side seems to have more sound of vocals then the right powered one?

    • The speakers should be vertical ideally, does this happen when they're vertical?

Could be a cable issue, check if cables are in properly.

Unfortunately, you might need to get a return/replacement.
