Virgin Velocity Fail to Honour eStore Transaction

Hello bargain hunters, I have just been scammed out of Velocity Points, by Virgin.
I was enticed to use their "New eStore" site, with the promise of DOUBLE POINTS.
In the market for a new washing machine, I decided to take up their offer of x 4pts.
Although I followed all the correct procedures, and received flash images confirming my procedure is correct,
somehow, for whatever reason, the transaction was apparently not recorded within the eStore site.

Velocity said they will have to process the points manually.
I sent the original Invoice, which stipulates "Via the Web", screen shots of money debited from my "Velocity Visa" and other forms of proof.
Now Velocity tell me that because there is no record of my ever conducting the purchase via their eStore, they will not issue any points.
So they have just scammed me out of 6,000pts and found ways in which to blame me.

I am demanding my 180,000pts be transferred to Qantas, or paid back to me.

What are your thoughts?

It's the same as cashback sites. Sometimes things don't track, or at some point after clicking through Velocity e-store you might've gone through another affiliate link, e.g. Google.

As for your threats, well, you can send the points to me if you like.

      Sometimes things don't track

Yeah, that doesn't happen when the vendor is in full control of the tracking. It's the obvious answer: the business is defrauding the customer. Not sure why you would think it was anything else. The profit seeking business takes more profit by converting the victims money into a made up currency and then not paying it out.

      • How is this fraud? You have to prove intent. I recently got 1,200 points from the eStore for a purchase from a well known retailer.

Lucky I dodged the fraud! /s

      • You are about the only one who can correctly deduce the situation.

        • Well there is always more than one stupid person in most situations

  • Cancel the transaction and buy the good from another retailer.

You sound like an entitled douche.

I am very confused about why you want qantas points from virgin/velocity

I have 180,000 Velocity points… I have been a loyal participant in their scheme, so if they want to play games, they can pay me out.

How does "demanding my 180,000pts be transferred to Qantas, or paid back to me" work?
    ¯_(ツ)_/¯

These are my accumulated points. They should provide options in either transferring points or redeeming in cash.

Transferring points to their direct competitor they have absolutely no links to? That's about as likely to happen as being able to transfer flybuys points to Woolworths rewards points… You can transfer points to Singapore Air's KrisFlyer programme though as they have a partnership with them but you'll take a hit in point value when you transfer them over.

If you want to redeem in cash, best you'll be able to do is redeem the points for giftcards on their estore. The points are inherently worthless, they're a construct of virgin's imagination and are only worth whatever they decide it's worth.

It's amazing how many people haven't worked out that credit cards exist to extract their money. They live in this dream state where they're the ones coming out on top as they lose more money.

Some of them start seeing scams inside the scam that they believe in, how sophisticated.

And it's amazing how many people use credit cards responsibly and come out far ahead.

Good thing we live in a free country and people can choose what to do

Not everyone is incapable of understanding how credit cards work like you.

Velocity said they will have to process the points manually.

So they are going to credit you the points or not?

    • No.. they reject the claim based on they shifting the goal post into their favour.

I vaguely remember this happening to me before. Did you provide screenshots from your browsing history that showed you browsed the virgin restore directly before the retailer website?

    • They have Click History now in your Velocity account

      • There is a click history recorded but I think this is of me researching the the item… but when I went back in to purchase the item, no click history was recorded… they are blaming me.

    • Yes they were issued all my supporting evidence… even paid using their Velocity Visa… the Invoice even states Web Transaction….
I pasted this social media complaint upon their Velocity Face Book page with the haunting words: social media.
Next I notice an email… they are re-viewing the case.
But this is why I want the option to get my points out… and piss them off.
Once someone does the dirty… that's it with them.

You are just a little bit deluded

      • you won't get your points out to Qantas, so quit that thought…

    I think you’re an idiot.

    Well you did ask :)

      But I know you are

  • Not sure what OP is complainingt about?
Where did the 180,000pts come from?

How many points did OP use to complete the transaction? (if any)
IF OP used points to make the purchase this would show on OPs points account.

If OP did not use any points to make the transaction then there is no loss and OP is just full of HOT AIR.

If OP made a purchase in order to earn points and the transaction did not complete then again there is no loss and OP is just full of HOT AIR.

    Too many Xmas drinks OP.
    Chill out

  • eStore points wqok on cookies and capturing the click link when you go to the store. if you go outside of that and click on another link it can break the clickback. you haven't been scammed, The system isn't perfect but no you haven't been scammed.

and you won't get your points moved to Qantas.. just go and spend them on something if you feel that strongly about it

  • was it appliances online? They had weird things happening with my friend after they bought something at Velocity estore All internet ads then showed higher prices than on theit website
