If I remember right, it'll only work with labels that have the black indexing marks on the back.
The cheap labels I buy on eBay all have the "barcodes" on them but good to know.
Been using my 400 for years now. Still going strong.
Yeah, that's right, even the generic labels have those marks. The reviewer seems to suggest there is a new system to thwart the use of generic consumables. Perhaps he's mistaken.

Be careful, not all of them do. I bought some labels from the US and they did not have the indexing marks on the back.
I think printers sold in the US don't look for those marks, but printers sold overseas do. So as long as you don't buy compatible labels from the US, you'll probably be fine. :)
@eug: Wow, Thanks for the heads up ….Worth double-checking when ordering.
But Yes, they certainly won't work!
Any good after market brands/sellers you could recommend please?

Any of these will be largely indistinguishable from the genuine ones in my experience.
The standard roll of 260 genuine labels costs about $23 (twin pack $46). The generic ~$1.50 (when bought in bulk).
Does it mean non-Turbo 450 will work with non-genuine labels?
The reviewer seems to suggest that, but this amazon seller seems to suggest that they will still accept generic labels.

Also a good deal on a handheld if that's what you need - https://www.amazon.com.au/DYMO-Label-Manager-Portable-Labele…
$37 for a 280p which is normally around $80.
I've got the 450 (not Turbo) works perfectly with aftermarket labels from Ali.
According to the one review for this newer model, generic labels or older genuine labels no longer work.
