Most smart watches at +$200 have a 7 to 14 day battery nowdays. They call 2 days long, and mention stand by time, meaning it's a day, max day and a half of battery in general. And then they 💩 on their own face by saying saves the frequent charging trouble. As if it's not enough charging the phone every day…

Lol what. Are you trying to compare something like the Huawei Watch GT2 versus the Samsung Galaxy Watch or WearOS watch or Apple Watch?

    • The price also reflects the quality. You should know why it is so cheap?

    • No full WearOS watch using it's full functionality (not talking about the hybrids or e-ink ones) lasts 7-14 days.

2 days at a stretch on my LG Watch Urbane but generally you charge them every night just like a phone.

  • If I was in the market for a non fossil gen 5 wear OS watch I would fork out another $5 for the fossil sport from eBay Australia.

    • the fossil was panned in the linked thread. Is this device going to suffer the same problems?

      • All wear os watches have detractors - buy it only if you know it is what you want. All watches prior to the gen 5 fossils only have 512mb of ram, including the sport. However the sport at least has a current gen processor (3100) and local support.

The fossil sport is a fine wear os watch - but wear os is kinda bad right now.

        • For me I actually like HOW wearOS works, but the horribly slow horrific lag in doing just about ANYTHING on my 2100 CPU in the LG Urbane does not make for a good experience. I frequently stare at a black screen for 10-15 seconds after just calling up the Assistant.

It is very pathetic in that regard.

Are the 3100 CPUs that much better or does Google need to pull the finger out and do some re-writing of the core OS?

@Ramrunner: From what I have read, the ram is the bottleneck. The Gen 5 Fossils have 1GB ram and are much smoother. The 3100 is better than the 2100 but only marginally.

There was a glimmer of hope that Google will get involved after they bought a bunch of tech from Fossil, but so far, nothing.

The Mi Watch that was just released is also supposed to be running on a version of Wear OS and has similar hardware to the Gen 5 (1GB ram, 8GB storage and 3100 chip) plus it has LTE support but it looks ugly like an Apple watch :p
