I would say converses wear in better than other shoes of the 'same' design. Worn in converses are a look in themselves and are the semi-desirable state of the shoe imo. But wear whatever shoe at whichever price point you want I guess. $100 isnt much for a shoe and if you pay any less you're probably sacrificing some quality.

if u like Con's particular style, there are plenty of other brands offer the same thing for much much less…
for around $100, there are huge amount of better shoes…
btw, i used to wear Cons a lot as a kid, believe or not, partly because there were not many choices, partly because it was cheap, i wanted Jordan, but my parents would not get me a pair. when they finally did, i only worn Jordan on special occasion. through the years, other brands took a quantum leap in shoes-making technology. Con's just getting expensive for no reason.
@alexGoodwin: Cons are getting expensive due to inflation same as everything else. They haven't changed their technology because that's part of their appeal (that you are buying a timeless albeit dated shoe design). Of course if you are looking for comfort or an actual running shoe you should look elsewhere.
