"You can use the FM transmitter to play music and take calls directly through your car's sound system."

    Where was this in 1999

  • Website price is $119

Good product for someone with only an FM radio in their car.

    Good stuff:

    • Can stream Spotify to your car stereo
    • Can control music with voice: Tap voice button, "Play", "Next Track", "Previous Track"
    • Can make calls using voice. Eg. Tap voice button, "Call John Smith", "Call back" (Last number)
    • Can answer calls using voice: "Answer" or "Ignore"
    • Voice quality very good
    • Battery life very good. About two weeks (or more) from memory. Has micro USB for charging.
    • Has a nice, thin strong metal clamp
    • It's quite stream-lined and doesn't look out of place clipped to your sun visor

    Bad stuff:

    • Depends on what frequency you pick and which area of the city you are, you may experience interference.
Probably a common issue for all FM transmitters.
    • A bit expensive

I bought this refurbished for about $60 a while ago. I'm not sure I would buy at $120.

But if your use-case is strong enough, it might be OK.

  • I'd rather spend a bit extra and just replace the head unit…

  • Wow these still around? Had one of these over a decade ago!

Will say for me at least it was very reliable and worked well at the time.

I'd say if your car is old enough not to have bluetooth now, then it would also have standard/double DIN and you could probably pick up a fancy new head unit which ties everything together nicely with existing speakers for not much more than this though?

At least that's what I ended up doing.
