DeWALT DCD709D1-XE 1 × 2Ah 18V Battery, Charger & Hammer Drill Kit $149 @ Bunnings

140

The deal posted here is actually for a 12V Brushless Drill Driver Kit, not a Hammer Drill Kit. Edit: The Bunnings website and the deal have now both been fixed.

The 18V hammer drill kit is $149, which is still a good deal though, imho.

Posting this as a new deal so we do not get confused and can make an informed decision. Cheers.

Note: There is no mention on the Bunnings' product page that this is a kit. (Though the picture does show a battery and charger.) However, it is definitely a kit that includes a 2Ah battery and charger, as seen in this photo of the actual product.

The deal posted here is just for Drill Driver -

No, that deal is for a hammer drill, battery, and charger. It is cheaper than this because it's the 12V series. The one you posted is the 18V model.

    • Pls read my comments there on that page. That’s not hammer drill.

And, this one is even better deal as this is 18V package with comfirmed hammer drill function.

Pls read my comments there on that page.

I just did; IMHO you should have linked directly to it like quarrymaster did, or mentioned the reason in your post above. It's not clear why you say it's not a hammer drill, while also posting a different range of tool.

And, this one is even better deal as this is 18V package with comfirmed hammer drill function.

18V is great if you need the power, otherwise 12V is better as it's lighter which helps during extended jobs.

I went to purchase the previously posted 99$ "hammer drill", newstead didn't have that promotion hanging around so they gave me this one with a battery and charger at same price.
U guys could try it urselves!

    • can you post receipt please

      • Did the same thing today https://imgur.com/rZl8qAK

        • How do you get them to match price with the picture of the receipt?

          • @Robbo86: It is not part of the official policy, but some (most?) Bunnings stores will match other Bunnings stores' prices. Depends on the manager/team member. A picture of a receipt is accepted as proof of the reduced price.

(Not sure, as I've never done so personally, but I think you need more info visible in the picture than the one posted by bds, like date and store. Note that in this case, the store can be inferred from the printing on the back of the receipt showing through to the front.)

        • Any chance you can post up the full receipt (date, time, store etc) please?
Hoping to give it a shot tonight for a price match.

  • Hmmm. tough call. This $149 DeWalt deal, or $189 for the Makita 18V Brushless Hammer Driver Drill Kit with 3.0Ah battery?

    https://www.bunnings.com.au/makita-18v-brushless-hammer-driv…

The Makita comes with a hardcase and I could use another battery for my existing range of Makita cordless tools, but the DeWalt has (I think) a stronger reputation and 65Nm torque compared to 50Nm on the Makita. I'm looking to drill some 10mm holes through bricks - would either of these suffice, or should I be looking for one with a side handle?

Buy the Makita, battery will be better for the holes in brick (But a corded drill would be much much better though)

      How many holes?

I bought something like this Sds drill I linked below, ten years ago, used it to chisel up tiles from a floor, drill heaps of holes on concrete etc. bought as it was cheaper than hiring one and came with bits too.
Sds type hammer drills are a mile better than normal hammer drill, and will do your 10mm holes so easy.

Thanks for the response - greatly appreciated.

I'll be drilling a dozen 10mm holes in bricks for mounting retractable hose reels at two houses, plus a another dozen smaller ones just to screw mount some solar security lights. Plus I've also got to chisel up some bathroom tiles with it.

I bought the Makita yesterday, put it's new battery on charge and used one of my existing batteries and 10mm masonry bit to take it for a test run. After five minutes, I'd barely made a dint. At this point I realised what you pointed out, that a corded drill with side handle would be a much better option. So I took it back and swapped it out for this www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-900w-3j-rotary-hammer-drill-kit_p6…. I didn't see the XU1 you linked to, but Ozito actually get good reviews online for their rotary hammers and for under $100, it came with a decent masonry drillbit and chisel set, so I can't complain.

Best of all, it chewed through those bricks at a rate of knots. And for home DIY jobs, the cord is not an issue.

Thanks for the advice - and for confirming my own findings. Cheers.
