One of the key features of Dance Central 2 is the ability to import your Dance Central 1 songs. If Harmonix implement this in the same way they've done it with Rock Band, you'll still need your copy of Dance Central 1 to do this. Once you've imported, trade away, but until then I'd hang on to DC1.

I don't think renting will work. I think it did with importing from Rock Band 1 into Rock Band 2, but Harmonix fixed that with importing LEGO Rock Band and Rock Band 2.
