Harvey Norman Deceptive Advertising 32" LCD TVs as Full HD When They Are Only HD 1366 x 768

Both there Big TV & Audio catalogue The TCL 32-inch S6800 on page 1 and in my Local paper today the Hisense 32R4 are advertised as 32" Full HD when they are not.

Very deceptive advertising.

Probably a copy and paste error by some clerk who has NFI.

Researching to confirm specs is very simple these days and always worth the effort to avoid disappointment.

    This took 10 seconds

    Size: 32″
    High Definition
    Resolution: 1366 x 768
    Viewing Angle: 178° H/178° V
    Contrast Ratio: 3000:1
    Clear Motion Rate 100
    HDR Via USB and Streaming

    • I'm with MS Paint & ode1… i'd say it's a simple error though I guess it gives the buyer an option to return it based on incorrect advertising.

I don't think id notice the difference between 720P and 1080P on a 32 Inch TV.

I think the real crime here is that in 2019 we still have non-full HD TVs

    • It seems almost impossible to find HD or full HD TVs anymore though

I wasn't interested in 4k, as I don't have any matching hardware nor the movies to enjoy, but I couldn't find a regular full HD screen around 50" anywhere. They were all 4k. Makes sense though - it's cheaper to mass-produce at the newer specs than keep legacy products in production.

Still a few in JB. https://www.jbhifi.com.au/collections/full-hd-tvs

I cant believe a Full HD 40" TV is only $300 now. Back when the house I'm in was built 13 years ago, a new 42" HD TV was $10k minimum.

        • …I remember oddly enough going into Harvey Norman in about 2006 and them telling my parents to buy a Plasma TV now as they would go up over the years.

Approx 1999, Myer were selling a 32@ plasma for 40k, but the image, although great, had horrible ghosting.

these ads attract less informed consumers and are a misrepresentations, innocent/careless/negligent/incompetent. they should put in a retraction and change it rather than let it slide. HN may not have a good consumer reputation with the regulators recently investigating them.
