Free Hova Wearable Payment Band

What is HOVA?
HOVA is a wrist band made from a durable silicone, with a card chip securely inserted inside of it. Think of it like a Visa Debit card - but conveniently strapped to your wrist, allowing you to make payments at any contactless reader from your usual account. Just wave HOVA in front of a contactless reader when prompted for payment, then go!

How does HOVA work?
HOVA works the same way as a Visa payWave, which you've already been using for years on your other Visa debit or credit cards. Same rules apply, for transactions under $100, just wave your HOVA in front of a contactless reader, wait for approval and go. For transactions over $100 you'll need to enter a PIN.

If you are an existing customer you'll need to phone them on 13 14 22 or email [email protected] to request the band (was told by live chat that existing/new customers are eligible) I phoned them and had no issues ordering one.
New customers just need to open an Simply Access account. No monthly fees. https://www.heritage.com.au/banking/accounts/simply-access

Seems like this is the same as posting a deal for a free debit card from your bank

    • It's free.. I got the black one.. even if I never use it I quite like the look of it

  • Why not just use paywave on a phone

    • Many phones do not have NFC, especially the cheaper Chinese ones that appeal to most ozbargain denizens.

This is a great alternative to buying a $300+ smartwatch or a new $300+ phone.

Trust me, you will never use this. I learned that back in the day when my bank was giving out a similar device for free.

Just another thing to get lost and subsequently learn that someone's gone around emptying your account to buy cigarettes.

Places are pushing these and NFC because the data clearly shows that people use them more often than they would a card which generates revenue.

  • A wristband’s kinda annoying to wear, but at least it’s free.

I’m curious about Bankwest’s Halo Ring though (as featured on The Amazing Race). Too bad that costs $39.

I'm annoyed enough by my Fitbit. Don't need more crap on my wrist lol

The Halo is pretty good, and every time I've used it overseas I've gotten incredulous looks from merchants.

Plus, it's kinda fun to punch eftpos terminals without getting willful damage charges.

If you want to lose less money you make it harder to pay not easier.

These are great to give to the kids to wear when you send them down to the shops for a loaf of bread - really hard for them to lose.

  • Seems more of a gimmick than a bargaib

  • Westpac released basically the same thing for free for it's account holders some time ago. It's a rubber strap with a slit in the side, where you insert a tiny card segment that looks identical to a SIM card, containing the same info as your regular bank card.

My wife got it 3 years ago, and it still sits on the shelf.
