  • Good deal. Thanks OP

I am tossing between this and Galaxy buds as quite a few Galaxy buds are popping up everywhere.

If anybody has experience with any of these, I would appreciate if you could share your opinion

I currently have the X4's and they definately aren't anything to write home about. However, they are probably one of the best 'sport' wireless earbuds on the market as they are pretty durable and a solid all-rounder in most categories.

Regarding Jaybird support, I believe they have recently improved greatly as I have seen quite a few positive reviews of them and have had a good personal experience with them when my left earbud started playing feint static and they replaced it in a week.

I've got both the X4's and the Galaxy Buds.

It depends what you want it for. The galaxy buds are good with my S10+ because as soon as I take them out of the case they automatically turn themselves on and pair to my phone. I usually would use them when walking through the city or short trips.

I use the X4's mostly in the gym. They are great for most exercises running, weights, rope, jumping exercises etc. I've never had an issue with them falling out while exercising. Even though they don't advertise them as being waterproof, I've had them in while showering too afterwards (I prefer hearing my own music while I shower) and they haven't had any issues. Sometimes when I'm not using them, I'll let them dangle on my neck instead of putting them away.

      Galaxy buds
pro - automatically turns on and pairs, wireless charging available otherwise USB-C, comes in a hard shell case to protect the earbuds
cons - fear of them falling out of ears, sound quality isn't as great as jaybirds. still good, but X4's just sound a bit better

      X4's
Pro - great for exercising and sweat, can hang on neck when not in use, although not advertised can be wet and still works perfectly fine
Cons - comes with it's own proprietary charger - if you lose it you're stuck unless you buy a new charger, only comes with a soft case for storing headphones

in terms on controls, they both will control music. The buds use wireless controls which you can customise, the X4's have a forward, back and play/pause button which double as volume controls and answering calls.

One thing I find useful is that with the X4's when you turn them on, a voice will tell you how much charge you have left in the earphones. The app that pairs with the X4's will also tell you this info. The Buds will tell you with the app on the phone only.

I've made phone calls with both as well. Pretty comparable, but with the X4's because the microphone is housed in the controls, you can pull the microphone closer to your mouth if people cant hear you. (ive made phone calls while riding a bike on the X4's and the other person heard me fine)

      Hope that helps

Oh yeah one more thing, I've too had issues with the X2, X3 and X4 breaking in the past. But each time its still been within the 12 month warranty so I just went into the store to exchange them for a new pair. The most recent pair of X4's though have lasted me a while.

        • I’ve had similar customer experience in that they kept cancelling
my order for some X4 accessories (I had the X3) due to stock availability issue in Australia and expressing my displeasure with the whole situation, they confirmed my X3 serial number and at the time they were only selling X4, They sent out a new X4 as a token apology. Can’t fault their customer support.

I've had issues with my previous X3 breaking. Their customer support was pretty top notch and they sent me the newer X4 as the X3 was no longer in production at the time.

Approx 9 months after that, the X4 they had sent stopped working also (at this point I was outside the 12 month warranty period). But as a measure of goodwill, they sent me ANOTHER replacement X4.

          Cannot fault Jaybird's customer service.

I had the X2 version. They didn't last past a year and there was nothing special about the sound for all the hype I was seeing on them.

Yep. Had the X2 version and had problems as well. Jaybird customer service was useless too. Would not recommend.

    • Thank you @iTaco and @Bob81

Love the X4s, had the X3s too but apart from the design change, I didn't notice a whole lot of difference. They're surprisingly bass-y. I use them for runs, the ear-fins are great for high movement/impact fitness, I wouldn't use them as an everyday/commute earphones.
