First deal so be kind :)

Been looking for a decent 43 inch TV and pulled the trigger on this Samsung.

Cheapest I’ve seen on this TV. Looks like they didn’t price jack so decent savings to be had.

Can't recommend this tv enough for the price, I bought as an oversize PC monitor as it does 4:4:4 Chroma but haven't used as yet. Been playing Xbox One X in 4k which is stunning and awesome and very low lag, and also watching UHD Foxtel (cricket and documentaries) and it's beautiful. For the price can't go wrong, HDR is no good on this (can't remember if even supported) but just standard it's a good tv that does the job.

    • In a lot of ways it's better than a monitor. Has it has remote control and better sound and apps.

      • In a lot of ways it isn't too. For example it doesn't have freesync or gsync compatibility so unless your stable at 60fps with vsync, it's not going to look great with tearing. A lot of monitors will beat this response time too (at best this tv in game mode is 10ms in a review test I saw), I think they actually claim 15ms in the specs so I wouldn't personally buy this for gaming. For 4k youtube and movies though, I am considering it.

How does it compare to hisense 43r6 which I believe is even cheaper with the sale?

      $396

I had an R6 43" a week ago it went back, it is hopeless on movies streamed from a pc, massive purple smears, increased artifacting and Win 10 text had some colour variation even though it was 4:4:4 Chroma.

The purple smearing was bad enough in my opinion as to make it unusable on a PC.

    • 43 R6 is terrible. Ghosting issues and input lag is not the best. Took mine back and got this. So much happier and you can tell the quality difference immediately

  • This vs Hisense R6, for Plex?

  • Aw nuts, paid $545 for this at the GG last week.

Been a great bedroom TV so far, contrast is way better then old cheapie IPS Panasonic we had. Really light which made wall mounting easy. Would def recommend at this price.

    • How is running Plex on the Samsung?

I've ignored the smart features - it's plugged into an Apple TV where I use Infuse as the Plex client.

I can quickly check it out for you - anything in particular you want me to check?

        • Just if it works well! Streaming 4K with no lag?

@jonnoyeo: OK, just tried it. 4K was unplayable, kept stuttering and buffering, and would bizarrely rewind itself 10s each time it buffered. Was using Direct Stream from the Plex server and CPU utilisation wasn't too high so I don't think it was the server. The wifi in the bedroom is a little ordinary so it could've been that, though the Apple TV plays the same file from Plex just fine.

            1080p was fine however.

            4K movie was x265 @ 23.2 Mbps, 1080p movie was x264 @ 12 Mbps if that's useful.

i remember buying 40 inch 1080p sony in 2009 for $2100 simply because it came with ps3 fat version.

now am enjoying the 65 c9.

  • I'm still sitting on my Samsung 40" 1080p that I payed $2200 for about 10 years ago. It's still an lcd and at the same time led FHD tv's the same size were like $4000. Considering jumping on this. It will save me some power and heat from the old LCD (gets hot in a small bedroom) and I was looking at tv's on gumtree a few months back out of curiosity and tv's worse than mine we're selling for like $300 so if I can even get $200 than this will be the cheapest tv I've ever bought and a huge upgrade from a fat 1080p LCD panel. Are you happy you upgraded?

  • Cantget this in Tassie Good Guys eBay says out of stock for pickup.
Also thats the same reply for all 40 to 43inch TVs.
20% off deal is valid until 18th tomorrow. But you can be sure they are instock then at the regular price.

    • You could try going to a JBHIFI for price match. I actually went to jbhifi to look at it in person yesterday before purchasing online and a sales person asked if they could help, i explained i was looking to buy it online and they asked what the deal was and said they would match it. I actually walked away with it slightly cheaper at $470 because that's what I said the deal was. I didn't even have to show them this post or ebay or that it was available and had units left. If they do ask, just show them this ozbargains post on your phone and it should be enough. If they're anything like the store in Bundall on the Gold Coast, they'll match it for you without even verifying the deal and you can buy it on the spot without having to wait for pick up notifications or postage and all that stuff. They made it really easy!
