Bose Frames Alo and Rondo for $269.10 @ Myer

100

Lowest price for these glasses at the moment I think. Combine with 6% Cashback from Cashrewards.

Myer seems to have price slashed for other products as well:

Should be able to price match JB Hifi or other stores.

    worst money spend

    • I thought so too. But then I rekon these would be great for my daily train commute. Headphones get a bit hot and annoying in summer.

      • Just get earphones, even $15 earphones would likely sound better than these.

        • They're supposed to sound pretty good actually. And being completely open would make listening more comfortable (subjectively) than any earphones.

Annoying for people around you though, a train would be a bad place to use these.

          • @crentist: I've tried them and the sound overall very unimpressive. I honestly think that the MH755, $10 earphones sound far better. Also I think it would be quite strange to wear sunglasses on the train/indoors, but that's my opinion. For my money, I'd rather have the Bose Soundsport Free, I got mine on sale for $120, a lot cheaper and better than these in my opinion.

          • @crentist: I've heard them twice in stores and they didn't appear to omit too much sound, atleast not as much as you'd expect…. Though I'd wanna hear in a quiet environment to really know.

Plenty of open ear headphones/buds are a pain for nearby people…. Even worse are phone speakers….

      • Guy behind me on the train was listening to music with these, and it unsurprisingly sounds like he was using tiny speakers at low volumes. Definitely audible enough to annoy some. For summer use, not sure I can recommend these over just in-ears or true wireless earphones like Earpods/Airpods and the like.

How so? I love mine! Taking phone calls, being able to hear whats around you when listening to music/ordering a coffee in the morning. I just wish they would use a standard charge cable but at least the included one is small and fits in the case.

I really wish they had a more wrap around styling. Impressive for what it is though imo.

Some real useless posts on this site.

When I tried them in store that was the big killer for me also.

  • i wonder who will get this?

    • ppl who don't know how much money they have

  • I wonder how to get prescription lenses fixed on these??

    • +1

I wouldn't be surprised if you could from a prescription store point of view, the shape is good for it, provided of course Bose hasn't got some funky proprietary frame which frankly I wouldnt put it beyond them…

      • Thanks…But I think that will break any associated warranty

        • Yeah that goes without saying.

    • Optically can reglaze these glasses, I even called them up to double check, you'll need to send it in to them to get your prescriptions put on. If you ever need to return them in for warranty, you can just pop the old lenses on and send them in, they won't notice a thing. There's a short video on Youtube from Bose that teaches you how to pop in replacement lenses.

I'm planning on getting some with transitions prescriptions.

      • oh…grad to know that….but will that not void the warranty??

        • They do sell other lenses, so it must be doable.

    • You can. Harvey Norman broadway sales rep was telling me they did it downstairs at an optics shop with transitions. I was tempted but the thick frame looks a bit awkward.

  • Only 10% off, and would probably want to buy the polarised lens as well, but better than nothing.

I'm tempted but will hold off and see what the new year brings.

Tired them once and if you are into expensive sun glasses then why not Bose
I think it makes sense to get them compared to 200$ sun glasses

  • I keep wondering why get this if you could have any sunnies with true wireless earphones like the AirPods? With AirPods you also get handsfree Siri. With the Bose it seems like you have to click a button on the sideframe to activate Siri, or whatever voice assistants they support.

I've never found buds that fit comfy, mind you, many sunglasses don't fit right either. It's an option either way.

  • The point of these seems to be more as open R&D and less as a ready-for-market consumer product

  • As people around you in a quiet environment such as a train would hear your music, your music experience is interrupted by external noise in a more busy environment. Can't compete with buds in giving you the immersion that is being sought when you want to listen to music.
