My coment is not related to this post but to traveling in general and I am sure it will be very helpful to people looking to book a flight.
I am a frequent traveler and what I find to be the best way of finding a ticket is using google flights. It is much quicker than any other flight search website and it's very easy to find the cheapest dates for travel. Just use the date grid or price graph display after you enter your destinations.

    • +16

I find momondo.com.au and skyscanner.com.au to be the cheapest (often cheaper than Google). Many websites have the date/ price grid these days.

      • +33

I just buy the cheap flights OzBargain tells me to buy

      • +13

I've never found Google flights to be as cheap as Skyscanner.

        • +4

Exactly. Guess what, even iwantthatflight.com.au was cheaper than Google Flights when I booked a flight last month.

      • +1

Skyscanner has slacked off I feel and no longer provides the cheapest flights. My last few bookings have been through IWTF, as they were 30-50 bucks cheaper than Skyscanner for the same date/flights

        • Yeah I've found the same a few times recently but overall find Skyscanner the cheapest.

      • +9

Use google flights to quickly search date ranges/different locations for cheap flights. Easily the fastest search engine. Then chuck the results into momondo/skyscanner for best final price.

        • +1

Agree with this. Google is the fastest and can give rough indicator on what we’re looking but not the cheapest. Once u narrow ur search, go to other aggregate website

      • +1

        Kayak is good, too.

    • I travel a lot. I find iwantthatflight.com.au smashes all of them every single time. But obvs use Google flights to find best times etc.
Mind you if you use Ozbargain correctly you will find it hard to pay for flights before you've used all the points etc from Credit Card bonuses etc.

Why did someone report this??? Wtf?

    • +4

      YEAH

      Want That Flight!

OP, please update post to show travel period: 1 Feb - 31 Mar 2020.

    • +1

Thanks for this, was thinking it could've worked for a quick getaway during the Xmas break .

    • That rules me out. I am after April - May 2020. I have 5 weeks annual leave coming and haven't planned where to go yet.

    PROMOCODE: SQAPPSG

This is for departure from Singapore

    • nevermind. misread your comment

      • lol you negged me :(

        • +2

Wasn't me but I can upvote you if free internet points really mean that much to you

    • Did you select Singapore as your location when you started the app? I'm looking at the conditions in the app right now and it lists all the major Australian cities as valid origins for the promo.

  • Hi OP, do you mind sharing where you got this from? I am trying to figure out whether I could find other promo codes from other destination that flies with SQ cheers

    • I received this promo code in an email from SA

  • What are the discounts everyone is actually getting? I presume that only a very limited number of flights will actually be 20% off given the ad is "up to" 20% off.

    • Honestly no luck so far lol

    • No difference in price for any of the dates I looked at for Japan.

I've looked at a whole range of dates in Feb and I don't see any discounted fares with the promo code applied. The pricing appears to be the same as in the web without a promo code.

    • Applied the code in the app and still seeing same prices before promo code, for a valid destination.

    • For me too it seems searching with or without the discount applied results in the same fares.

      • Likewise using code for departing from singapore

  • -2

Does this promo code only work within the app?
It's telling me it's invalid on web.

    • Did you read the OP?

      • Apparently not fine enough.

Do you still earn status credits with velocity / virgin if booking directly through partners, such as with this deal?

  • I’m getting the same thing. Melbourne return to Bangkok, 10-21 feb, exactly the same prices.

  • +3

Based on my search results and others, the promo code doesn't appear to provide any form of discount.

  • +1

yep no price difference for me on App with coupon vs Web with no coupon. Surely there is something wrong?? I'm putting in travel for the correct dates.

  • +2

No difference in price with or without promo code for flight from SYD - DEL

  • +1

Dont get any discount on the app at all when entering the code.

  • +4

94 up votes and yet it doesn't work…

    • +1

Yep, it really activates the almonds.
Maybe Singapore Air reps need to be banned from posting (unless they give us all free flights).

      • Yeah well, how does it get almost 100 likes and front page by people openly up voting before this collective group figures out it doesn't even work.

        Makes you wonder..

      • I'm not a Singapore Air rep… I got this offer in an email and figured it was worth sharing.

        • Nah wasn't accusing you but rather the huge amount of upvotes it got despite most commenters saying they couldn't find any applicable flights.
I did actually find one flight that qualified for the promo, but it saved only $50 while adding 13 extra hours of stop over time.

    • is it because the T&C says - "Advertised fares shown are inclusive of all taxes and surcharges, and are priced per person, in Economy Class, inclusive of a 20% discount applied off the gross fare only (correct as at 6 December 2019)."

  • Virgin is still cheaper than SQ even with 20% off.

    • Virgin doesnt fly to Singapore though

      • i think they codeshare on some of their flights. but i’ve never seen Virgin to be cheaper than Singapore Airlines.

        • Exactly, just codeshare but never cheaper. Well, not that I've ever seen at least.

  • Tried a few dates in Feb-Mar, various destinations ex Perth, economy. Price was same as without discount code.

  • The prices are the same for me when searching MEL SIN return flight in Feb 20.

  • sucks that the headline says 20% off when it should actually say have not found single flight with this offer lol.

  • It works for me when I tried randomly searching for Melb - BKK flight around March 2020. Shows up around $700 return with code from original price of $845.

    • -1

The price is the same for me with or without the promotion code. Tried BKK (1st Apr - 8th Apr 2020, price is the same $947.68 with or without the code).

Tried various other destinations in April. The code has no effect.

      • FYI travel period for this deal is 1 Feb - 31 Mar 2020.

        • The poster provided that information after I complained. He also updated the list of destinations and I could tell me playing around with Vienna was a waste of time.

          • @enveloped: Yeah same boat, I want to go to Vienna, Prague and Budapest in April. Hope this deal helps somebody though unfortunately not for us.

  • It works but still expensive. The flights from MEL-CAN I want are $725 with this code, or I can get them through Aunt Betty for $614 with a $30 off code.

    • Did you try it in a web browser without the code to see if there was a difference? The code worked for me, but it didn't change the price.

  • Was about to book a flight within that exact time period 1 Feb - 31 Mar 2020 for my mum. Awesome timing OP!

  • Same price, probably this is how they do promotions in Singapore.

  • Does anyone know what the code is (if any) for departure from India?

    • Ticketed ex-Australia AFAIK. YMMV
