Suggestions for a backpack for work

Hello, people.

Any suggestions for a good, secure hard shell backpack for work? Will be carrying a lot of very expensive equipment and I don't fancy the idea of a small suitcase like some do. More worried about dropping, shocks, etc.

This one comes to mind -

Anybody have one that they would suggest? TIA

  • that looks good

I would highly suggest something water resistant

  • Is the expensive equipment yours or your employers?
If it is work-related, your employer should be providing a solution.

    • OP could claim their bag as a tax deduction if the employer doesn't provide a solution

I would rather be provided with the solution, rather than having to find it myself, buy it and then receive a tax deduction, which doesn't equate to cash spent

I'm a sole trader, so it's mine and my dilemma, unfortunately.

  • That bag would make you look like a turtle. Just an opinion. I don’t have a solution for you though

    • And that would be a problem, why?

Op could use it to get into the turtle club

    • Small price to pay to keep my equipment intact, I guess. Looks are secondary right now.

  • Deuter, Good bags

  • honestly, I have two 'hard panel' backpacks and I find they do not allow you to carry that much. If you want to carry your laptop, a few cables and a notepad or something then it will be fine. I tend to carry a bit, so I found a good backpack that carries an 18.4 inch screen laptop really weel in a padded section, and a large compartment for all my other stuff.

FYI, I have the large Alienware hardshell and the Dell hardshell.

I've used these guys for years, not as good as the older stuff but worth a look. Although not hardshell, I regularly transport 10k or more of stuff in mine which is 7 years old.

    • Thanks, I'll have a look.

    • Looks like a good present for my daughter.

  • if you're looking with function over form. Go to a camera store and check out their bags. The good ones have padded and adjustable compartments. They are ugly as hell though.
