I am interested in a baby monitor that I can use while out in the back yard. It would need to work from up to 200 metres away while I am in the garden. Is there anything like this available or do they only work over a small area like in the house? I don't trust phone network because sometimes Telstra may be down. Hope there is something available.

You could use two uhf radios if you only need sound. But apart from that i doubt you'll find anything more reliable than telstra.
My only advice is to make sure you put plenty of sunscreen on your baby if your leaving it in the back yard..
200m? Do you live on acreage? Or near a pub?

We use a Wifi baby monitor/camera from project nursery. It is quite dear, but it works through wifi so you can as long as your phone has wifi or 4g it will be fine.

Sorry should have clarified. The baby camera works with an app you can install on your android or ios phone. The app has the usual baby monitor functions, sound alarm etc.

No home wifi. Only mobile.
