• Not sure myself…thinking the same

Seems Bose is charging $159 odd instead of $143 (without Honey workaround) - people will be able to contest this with screen shots etc.

But with this workaround, only the final price changes to $101 - discount still shows $59 odd and a screenshot of this might not help.

• Yeah not sure, I am sure Bose is bound to catch up on this workaround if more of us are ordering, but still its a damn good price.
Man I am going to be kicked out of house if I order another one. I still have not opened the Sonos Ones and this Bose speaker and have them hidden for the fear of wife.

• @bluehalk: yeah…I will use the old principle - its not a deal if you don't need it.
I recently got one for $148…opened it already.

• @bluehalk: Well! as per their Terms of Sale "https://www.bose.com.au/en_au/legal/terms_of_sale.html" Point 6. Prices.
The customer will be invoiced at the prices and the currency indicated on the Website and applicable at the time the order is confirmed by Bose.

Unless otherwise expressly indicated in writing by Bose at the time of confirmation of the order, the prices include all applicable taxes (including GST) and packaging costs but exclude delivery costs (if applicable).

If the customer wants the products to be delivered by a specific means of transportation, other than the standard delivery mode(s) offered by Bose, the transport costs will be subject to a separate agreement and invoice, without any reduction in the prices of the products.
If the order is placed for $101.97 using this workaround, they cannot revert and charge you more. However, I am not sure if they are within their right to cancel the order, which I am sure will be able to do so.

****UPDATE***. Contacted Bose and they said it was an error and they'll sort it out. I suggest you do the same. Live Chat was very helpful

• I wasn’t able to find the live chat option. Would you mind sharing the link?

• It was there earlier now gone. There’s a tab on the side saying chat. I don’t see it now as well maybe too many people enquiring about the changes in charges.

Calling them might be the other option as I’ll need to do as well.

My paypal change to $159 now but my Amex is still showing pending at the original charge.

• I am in exact same situation. Will try calling later. Thanks

• @TheGhost: When you open the webpage give some time for the chat tab to appear. I managed to use it just now.

• Had anyone n noticed if this price discrepancy applies to other models?

Update,

I recenty received an email this morning confirming my order. The invoice is for the $159.95 instead of the $142 AND my card has been charged for that total amount. I had originally used PayPal and during the sale it was indeed the $142.

• Is this an updated email or your first email? My original email shows $142.

• this is a secondary email without any content but an attachment of my invoice. The pending charge on my card has actually gone through for the amount of $159.95. I contacted their live chat and told them about it. They insisted that the charge was $159.95 but I said that I had screenshots. The virtual chat guy wasn't able to rectify the situation but he said he'll escalate the issue and keep in touch :/

• Thanks. I went to live chat as well and they need to escalate it. At the moment I think mine might be showing the original price in their system as my order probably still earlier stage than yours. Hopefully they sort it soon.

• @j1568: where are you folks seeing live chat? I only see some 1800 phone numbers on their Contact Us page

• @andresampras: It doesn't appear straight away. Let the page load, and keep an eye on the side for a chat tab to appear.

• @j1568: got it, thanks.

chat transcript:

Honestly, as per checking the total deduction that shows up in our system is $159.95 AUD. And I understand that this is not the price that you're expecting.

I don't want to speak in behalf of our Order management yet regarding this incident, but I'am looking forward to have this escalated to our Support team to sort this out.
at 12:31, Dec 10:
We would really appreciate if you can give us 24-48 hours for the escalation time frame. Rest assure, I will personally keep in touch with you as soon as we have the response from them.

• @andresampras: I've just received the soundlink mini II.

Now to wait to see how much I'm paying for it…

• My experience was the same as stemcellsss'. I have logged a dispute ticket on PayPal. Will report back when I get a response.

• Yeah I got charged $159.95 also…. withdrawn from my bank already.

• @xoom: dog walkers are no longer The Source.

Cat walkers are the new Oracle

I don't think any one is going to get it for $101.97.
I used Honey to use the 2 voucher codes SPEAKER20 and HOLIDAY15 this morning.
I successfully got a email confirmation from Bose and Paypal telling me the Order was successful.
I even checked my ING Banking app and there was $101.97 pending.
Then I checked a couple hours later and the Bose Statement on the ING app - $101.97 had been removed.
And it had also been removed from my PayPal activity.

• Pretty poor service brought this Sunday 12.45 pm paid 142.97. money was taken out of my visa account same day.only had confirmation email. They still haven't advised me that the buds have been cancelled yet.

Must admit I'm concerned about paypal. How can you be charged one amount for it to magically change to another without warning. In this case we're on top of it but I don't reconcile every transaction.. worrying

• well you don't have to worry too much, sellers with the authority to modify payments and orders etc through paypal have been authorised and only a select amount of sellers have this contract with paypal, like official sites like Bose.

• +1

Lodged a dispute through PayPal. PayPal says that the best way to resolve the matter is to contact the retailer directly. Can I assume that that is just an attempt to sidestep the issue and PayPal is the best option for resolving the incorrect amount charged?

• Is there a reason you didn't contact bose first

• Good question for Bose, actually.

• I did the same as k23man - Was just easier and I usually find PayPal to be pretty reliable

• So should i go for the Soundlink Mini II at $160, or Home 300? Sound quality is what's most important, not really needing voice assistant.

• +1

Arghh, looks like deal has expired? Voucher not being accepted.

• Anyone heard back from Bose yet in regards to the change in charges. I just got my invoice for $159, but did chat with them yesterday who said they will need to escalate it.

• +2

Bose is trying to weasel their way out of honouring the $143.96 price for the Soundlink Mini II. Just spoke to customer chat who said that the correct price was $159.95 and they will not honour the $143.96 price. I suggest anyone who has been overcharged to lodge a Paypal dispute because Bose aren't going to refund the difference.

• Well the order confirmation received from BOSE clearly stated lower amount. I mean this is the case of payment different to what is confirmed by Bose itself.

• Spoke to customer service and she was insisting that $159.95 is the right price, I argued that I only wanted to buy it at $143.96 and if there was an error they should have called me and advised of the difference and asked if I would like to proceed. Call center in Phillipines must be going of some SOP even the supervisor insisted and didnt look like they would refund the difference or honour the lower price, so I lodged a dispute with my credit card company.

• Guess will need to open case with PayPal as most likely they will just ignore all the escalations they say they will do.

Have to wait to get it first for me then will open the case.

• Yah, waiting for response to my case as well.

• I just checked my transactions and they have charged me $159 as well.

Very poor reaction and response from Bose.

If we swiped our cards at Woolies with a lesser amount, and find out a couple of days later that more money has been taken out of the transaction, wouldn't that be fraud of some kind?

If it was an error, they should have contacted us about it before shipping it out and charging our accounts with the additional amount. I was not contacted by Bose at all. If not for me checking OZB thread, I would not have known about this.

Clearly when we checked out it was the lesser amount, it even tracked on our credit cards as the lower amount. We have emails and screenshots as well.

Is there more that we can do?

• +2

That is infact very poor from Bose. The screenshot clearly shows calculation offered at the point of sale. Buyer accepts the discount and final amount - they can wish for whatever they want later but effectively they have accepted the offer once the buyer pays.

To be honest, with the Honey deal (bring price down to 102 with 2 coupon codes) - Bose might have a point. But with this, if their coupon code/website cannot calculate, why should the customer be penalised.

If they chose to alter the price after the sale, they are risking customer fury.

I say all should chargeback and dispute the difference in price

• +1

What makes this different from other errors is that other retailers actually fessed up that they made an error in pricing etc and cancelled orders. We would then begrudgingly move on as we should by now be familiar with how these things could happen.

This one's shocking as there were no comms, they straight up charged the additional amount and shipped it out without consulting customers.

If I were Bose, I would start backtracking now and refund the difference. Being caught up with fraud allegations & loss of brand reputation due to a gap in their processes is not worth the $16 per customer. Most companies regular send out gift vouchers close to that amount anyway. (eg BCF and their latest Christmas $10 coupon)

• +1

Agree. If they didn’t want to honour the price then they should have cancelled the orders. Instead now they have to deal with PayPal disputes or CC chargeback.

• +1

They should not be cancelling orders even in my view. $16 again is too little an amount to piss a loyal customer off. Agreed Bose is the best (in my view) but I would not mind moving away from a brand if they cannot accept/honour their mistake.

• +1

@RM: Just got off the phone with Bose and they refused to do anything. They said it’s been escalated to management but they are refusing to adjust the price. It’s pretty stupid making a bad name for them self over $16 plus the fact if people decide reject and return the cost of shipping to and from probably about $16 to them.

Choice is either file PayPal or CC dispute, or reject delivery and get refund.

• +1

@j1568: So they want to stick to their "price" regardless of the mistake they made. Their reputation will take a serious hit in this community.

• @RM: Yes that’s their management decision. So I’ll be filling a PayPal dispute once I receive my order. I said that to them but I guess customer service on the phone has no power to do anything but go off what their management told them. They are aware of it as the person I spoke to also said they have receive emails showing confirmation being lower but management standing firm.

• @j1568: We should look to buy more items - even the ones we do not need. Get them to deliver and then return these. What's their return policy - who pays for shipping.

Buy the most expensive items…even if it is on RRP.

• @RM: It’s not the most expensive you need to maximise the shipping, it’s the biggest and heaviest!

• @Cloudie: Naah..I was thinking of using the expensive item so they would have to sell it as seconds the next time - or repack atleast.

• @j1568: Have filed a case with PayPal, awaiting reply, see how Bose is going to explain to PayPal.

• +1

@wesker: Just filed my dispute as well. They will have plenty coming. They may end up not even replying to the dispute given their lack of response to notify cancellations or incorrect charges and PayPal may then closed it in favour of the customer.

• Anyone managed to get theirs yet?
I ordered a Home Speaker 300 on Sunday afternoon and all I have is an order confirmation.

• +2

I received the Soundlink speaker today in the mail.
Paypal says $159 but bank is pending at $143, so I've lodged a dispute with PayPal and attached the order confirmation email I received

• I received the speaker today but I found being charged at 159.95. I talked to the service staff and she insisted the price of 159.95 is the correct price regardless 143.96. I just asked for the refund and she let me do the return and refund.

• If u do return.. Who pays for shipping?

• Bose needs to pay the ship fee

• +3

The ridiculous thing is, in some cases the return shipping may cost them more than $16.

If you include the time and cost for their employees to process the return label, process the returned item, and process the refund, it would cost them more than $16.

Not to mention they will end up not actually generating a sale, hence not profiting from the sales margin. On top of that, they will also be copping the original postage cost for nothing.

Cannot fathom how shortsighted their management layer is. At least other retailers are smart enough to cancel orders and process refunds without sending out the item.

One of us should get on the phone with the person that made the decision and run through this with them.

I think we have found the dumbest company in the history of pricing errors.

• I believe thats what they are counting on so I wont entertain that and have informed them once Paypal has finalized the case I will instigate a chargeback.

They will then get zero.

• BOSE don’t care about Aussie customers. They did over-charge without any notification already.

• +1

Remember to try the speaker sound before the return.

• So what stops us from ordering stuff in 1000s and returning under the ambit I don't like it

• +1

@RM: nothing just inconvenience and cashflow i guess

• Nice. After the way they've handled things lately they deserve it.

• Got charged 159 as well - is it better to not accept the delivery or initiate a return for refund?

• If you not going to bother putting a dispute in your PayPal or CC, then refuse delivery will save you from organising it to return.

• For those of you who got the speaker already, did you guys got any shipping notification or tracking email from Bose?

And has anyone who's living in Melbourne metro region recieved the speaker ?

Thanks

• +1

I received mine today. I didn't get any shipping notification, but got a message fron Aus Post saying it was onboard with driver for delivery.

• Well, I have got nothing in my email till now, and I did call the Bose customer service asking why my order hasn't been shipped yet.

In response, they told me that they have escalated the issue to the higher management 🙄 and wanted me to wait till Thursday.

I paid via CC and was charged 144$, and hasn't been charged more till now like others are stating over here.

I wonder what's going on . I will call them again in the evening today.

• I'm in QLD, but the only notification I got was the one from the delivery company saying that it was on board for delivery. I didn't ever get an email from Bose to say it had been shipped.

• Same for me.

• PayPal receipt $143
Bose order confirmation $143

Following day it's changed to $159 and already shipped… also lodged PayPal dispute

• FYI. Doing chargebacks is your best recourse as merchants end up with higher fees and potential loss of merchant facilities if chargebacks are too plentiful. On top of that, every chargeback comes with a investigation fee, could be from $25 to $75…

• chargeback through paypal or CC?

• CC.
PayPal chargebacks I am not familiar with. Oh, I just found a link that PayPal has a $22 fee for successful chargebacks.

• will give it a go on cc then

• How do you do a credit card charge back? Do you have to call the bank?

• Yes. You call the bank and tell them you would like to raise a dispute for a charge. Take note though the process can drag on for up to 3 months, so it can take less time getting a refund from the retailer.

• I think they will give you temporary credit while waiting for the outcome.

• Their phones are busy today, no luck getting through.

• Wow they just credited the difference to my bank account. Seems a tad dodgy.

• I emailed them yesterday and got a reply saying they've been busy and my product should still be received withing 5 days. 5 days is today and nothing.

• Same here.

Was hoping to have it for a party this weekend, doesn't really look like it's going to happen now.

• I've had an invoice today so I think I'm actually getting it at least!
