My Black Friday Ordered Samsung Note 10 Gone Missing between Harvey Norman and AusPost

Hello everyone. Like many others on Ozbargain here, I ordered the Samsung Note 10 Black Friday sale on 29 November at Harvey Norman online. But it has now gone missing and I'm not happy with Harvey Norman at all .

Parcel from AusPost showed as delivered, but I haven’t received it. And I stay home today at all, nor hear anyone knock the door.

28-11-2019 : Ordered Note 10 at Harvey Norman

Some day laters try to contact HN ask why do not ship my phone, they said some delay, but I have not received any mail for delay. I want to cancel it to order with Amazon before, but their website show you can't normal cancel the order if you see the better price at another store, OK fine I'm OK.

3-12 : 1pm They sent me the email confirming the note 10 already shipped but without the tracking number. Then I wait 30 to 60 mins to get in contact with them via Online Chat at HarveyNorman.com.au, then they said they will email me the tracking number later.

4-12 : No email yet I contact them and wait another 30 to 60 minutes to get the tracking number, they gave me some random number show as Other Courier, and this number not working at all, can not track with any AusPost at all, I have try about 5,6 tracking site but still nothing, waste of time grrr …

30 minutes later they said they shipped the note 10 to AusPost yesterday and give me the tracking number from AusPost

I check and nothing show so I wait

Then I contact AusPost via Facebook Messenger and they told me HN just handed the note 10 around 3pm on 4 December not 3 December like they all said

AusPost:
"That's right
They handed 6479xxxxxxx over the counter at the Rundle Mall Post Shop in Adelaide today at 2:39pm"

6-12 today : Parcel from AusPost showed as delivered, but I haven’t received it.

Once again in contact AusPost after 1 hour they tell me wait another 5-10 days for them to investigation

Auspost "From there, you can expect our back office team is going to contact you in the next 5-10 business days to give you of the outcome of your case."

Now i don't where is my beauty Note 10 have gone, unhappy : (

    Everything before this point is completely redundant and useless information.

    Note that sometimes Aus Post mark as delivered, yet it's still sitting in the courier's truck.

    If you've raised a dispute with Aus Post, they should've emailed you and there will be a 1800 number to push the claim faster. I did that with mine, and it was delivered the next day. Likelihood is it was in the guys truck still.

    But all the other crap is just useless information. HN mailed it, it's just been lost.

    • Im not ussually buy stuff online , but i ordered many thing from amazon this black friday and cyber monday, when i see mark as delivered, always i got my things

        Just cancel the item and ask for a refund. They have failed to deliver.
        Remember, this is between then and the courier — you are not in the "contract".

      I imagine with such an expensove iten it would have required "Signature on delivery"

    Why would you be unhappy with hn, they mailed it, after that its in ausposts hand, its not like hn did anything wrong.

      They said they mailed it to Aus Post on 3 December but Auspost said they mailed it to Auspost on 4 December

      No tracking number

      Contact them they said send me traking number via email but still nothing

      Contact them and they gave me some random traking number , which is not work at all

      I don't know if they put note 10 on the parcel or what , and if they put the my delivery address right or wrong

        When something is mailed with a big retailer, it usually is just an order created with australia post, then they pick it up, the order was propably done on the 3rd, and auspost picked it up on the 4th.

        Doesnt mean they sent it late. Everything after that is with auspost.

      • Sounds like both HN and AP have done something wrong.
        For example…What was the delivery address?????

        For example - did the driver obtain a signature as proof of delivery and where exactly was it delivered.

        Just because the item shows as delivered it doesnt mean it was delivered to the correct address !

    You ordered on Friday 29th of November and called them on the weekend to see why it wasn't shipped? Give it a few business days at least, then contact.

    I've had notifications said delivered & then items turn up the next morning.

    Only thing HM did wrong was be a few days late in posting it and really processing takes about that long anyway.

    Auspost confirms they received it, so wait for them to get back to you.

    Though I hope you didn't tell Auspost what you were expecting, because if some person there knew exactly which parcel had a high value, easily resold item…

    I had a parcel go MIA this week - tracking showed as on board for delivery for 4 days.

    I returned home earlier today & noticed the courier next door so stopped to ask him - he said most likely the parcel was with the postman as they've had to redistribute packages based on size between posties & couriers due to increased number of items awaiting delivery.

    Parcel delivered via postie an hour later - packaging squished as obviously too oversized to fit limited space on postman's motorbike but at least contents undamaged.

      Their website working on Sunday via chat, they open the chat then i join and ask , and i just ask them very friendly and they said delay so im thank you the staff and wait

      • Yeah but their chat would be there on Sundays for general enquiries. No one's delivering on Sundays because Auspost isn't open.

    Similar thing happened to me. It ended up getting lost by a newsagency. HN ended up claiming on their insurance.

      • Yeah they did, I ended up picking up my camera from Belrose. The newsagency ended up calling me a few weeks later saying they had delivery so I ended up with two.

      • Yes. It can happen. It happened to my parcel too. I got someone else's parcel.

    Or, maybe, HN and Australia Post are living up to their reputations and you're being unrealistic and impatient.

    And if i do something wrong im sorry , im not so good at buy stuff online so i just little conpare with the China Order and Amazon why they just delivery so quick, even from China to Aus just 5,6 days

    Im confuse because someone complain about Note 10 order at Harvey Norman too but again if i wrong about the the delivery day im so sorry, experience for next time

        Far out how do you cope with everyday life? Harvey Norman will likely sort it out, or auspost, or failing that, simply claim it on your credit card. It's not like you're waiting for a heart transplant.

      • I think your personality is unsuited to online shopping. I'd suggest you only shop instore where you receive the goods immediately after paying money. This will stop a lot of angst.

  • Your best bet is to politely get them to check the GPS of the delivery vehicle.

      OP doesn't need to do this. It is up to the courier service to do their own checks.

      • What is your suggestion that is constructive? Go back in time and click and collect instead? Great suggestion, pure retrospective fantasy. Your hindsight is amazing!

    You’ll get it on Saturday, Sunday or Monday.

    Why does it show delivered today? This is because Auspost Xmas delivery times starts mid October to November. Subbies are swamped with mail articles that they can’t deliver on the same day. Scanning the articles as delivered looks better for their daily KPI.

      Their first language isn’t English, and while they try and do a reasonable job, they might have trouble with understanding shorthand and Aussie jargon

      Subbies - subcontractors or self employed delivery drivers
      Swamped - have to many to handle
      KPI - targets they must make before getting into trouble, so if they miss these deliveries too many times they get fired (lose job), so tell boss it’s delivered then deliver it later

    • Yes I got notified a parcel was received by Austpost FOR delivery AFTER I received it that afternoon.

      But I understand the OP’s concern it’s not a small dollar item.

  • It's really Christmas for the delivery folk at this time of year ;-) All the tracking stuff is worthless half the time. I got my money refunded when my electronics delivery went missing but couldn't buy that deal again later. Certain delivery folk knocked it off as I was home all the time and there was no card either.

  • They will obviously lose the entire cost of the phone if they have to send you a new one, so they have to do a thorough investigation about where the parcel went.

    So, if they say that it'll take them 10 days to investigate, then you'll have to be patient and wait 10 days.

    It's unfortunate but these things sometimes happen when buying online. If I am able to, then I will usually always choose the click and collect option to avoid this possibility.

    Unfortunately, the "contract" for delivery of item is between HN and the Postal Service.
    HN needs to notify PS and make a claim.
    PS will state on their records item was delivered - but this is BS. They just tick boxes.
    You need to report a possible theft from your letter box (or where the PS say they left it — which is BS) to the police — do this over the Web Portal Service and receive an Incident Number.
    Alternatively, cancel payment or whatever with the bank… either way, it's going to be a long road, you with no phone, and no recompense - until someone owns up.

  • Your parcel may have been sent to another house with similar address but same door number. It happened to mine before. It really depends on how good the unknown receiver is before returning it back to you. Good luck.

  • They most likely they oversold the product and you just have to wait while they get more from the manufacturer. I'm in the same boat but with Bing Lee, I haven't got mine since ordering on black Friday. Just have to be patient.

  • Harvey Norman's customer service is a mess and helpless.

    I bought a printer ( hp amp sth) on may 2019. Aus Post lost, and asked Harvey Norman to resend it.

    Its already December and 5,6 calls " it will be sent within this week", still haven't received it.
