[PC] Epic - Free - The Escapists (Rated 89% Positive on Steam) - Epic Store

2300

The next Epic freebie is here.

This week it is: The Escapists

Steam page (for info ONLY): https://store.steampowered.com/app/298630/The_Escapists/

From the website:

Scheme. Sneak. Succeed.
You’ve landed yourself in prison again, and your only chance is to engineer an escape by any means necessary. How you do it is up to you! Why not cause a prison riot? Or dig a tunnel right under the walls of the prison? Or even steal a guard uniform to blend in with your captors?
The Escapists is a unique prison sandbox experience with lots of items to craft and combine in your daring quest for freedom. Life in prison will keep you on your toes with the strict rules that you’ll have to break. The guards are out to stop any escape attempts, so you’ll have to avoid suspicious behaviour by attending roll calls, working a prison job and hiding your stolen craftables.
Escaping is what you do best, and you’ll have to prove your skills in a variety of challenging prisons from across the world.
Become an Escapist now!

Enjoy!

    Don't forget to grab it.

Also: Rayman Legends is STILL free for one more day - grab it if you have not already done so: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/498215

Third last Epic Games Store freebie unless they've extended it since this article:

Oh well, I've built up a pretty good collection so far even if they end it there. Perhaps one day I might even play some of them.

      • How many do you have?

        • +2

As an ozbargainer probably all of them. I know I set notifications and grab each one only takes a few seconds.

        • Not sure exactly how many - there doesn't seem to be a way to view your library on the website which is all I can do at work. I think I'd have got most of them, although I'm not sure if I was in there at the very start. There have been a few that I already had anyway, either on Steam / GOG or on PS4, so there have been some double-ups.

        • Epic Games freebies that were posted on Ozbargain:

          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/deals/epicgames.com

Darn, wish I hadn't checked, because it looks like I missed a few at the beginning… :(

      • Yeah, I haven't played any as yet myself despite getting all Epic Store freebies… may have installed Shadow Complex. Can't remember if I gave the first level a try or not. I'm glad that Surviving Mars was part of the giveaways… had that game on my Steam wishlist and now don't need to buy it.

I'm still disappointed about Unreal Tournament 4 being cancelled:

        https://www.newsbytesapp.com/timeline/Sports/37648/166470/ep…

Would be a great touch if Epic releases Unreal Tournament 3 for free as its last game… but with a new 20 map bonus pack converting previous Onslaught maps to the Warfare mode, and fully patched of course to use the master servers and not the defunct Gamespy. Not a Fortnite fan but love me some UT. Yeah, UT1 and 2004 are the superior games but UT3 runs on current computers better. Hoverboards were also great fun!

Subnautica is a gem, underwater diving looks like you are actually diving, absolutely beautiful. I only played about 20 hours then gave up for now as Im not a fan of open world backtracking.
Hint; turn off hunger and water when starting the game. I would have finished it but the constant going back to base to eat or drink kills the experience.

        • That's one that I actually missed! Had my eye on it on PS4 for a while, will get around to it one day. Problem is I have way more games than I have time to play. And the fact that so many games these days insist on running 40/60/100+ hours means I play fewer games than I'd like to.

          • @AngusD: Well I think the Batman giveaway was hard to beat. Hope you didn't miss that one. Three Arkam Batman games that are rated very highly. Lego games not for me.
I have far to many games also. I collect them and try to play only the best. I'm a fan of good indi games also. Try to avoid open world games that take 200 hours to finish. The Witcher 3 I played about 125 hours then put it on hold for a couple of years. Plan to go back and finish it one day.

            • @AdamSmash: Yeah I got the Batman one, although I'd already played all 3 of those games anyway.

The one that surprised me was Stories Untold. I'd never heard of it, just grabbed it since it was free. Then I downloaded it one day really just because I was testing out my new NBN connection so I was downloading stuff at random :P Gave it a quick bash and really enjoyed it - end up playing it all the way through (helped by the fact that it's a sensible length).

  • Where do you find what next week's freebie is?

    • +2

      With a Lysander post

    • +3

Not out yet. My guess is that they have something special planned for the run up to Christmas such as a new freebie every day but that is just my guess so do not take it as set in stone.
Another possibility could be that they have not decided on what the last freebie will be and it might be a big one.
But who knows - we can just wait and see - I will post as soon as it is revealed.

      • Thanks Lysander, definitely would make a lot of sense. Appreciate all your posts btw!

      • Definitely don't post until it's revealed. Even though we know it's a freebie, people here seem to bitch about a post not having enough info (even if one intends to update when that info is revealed). A bit stupid IMHO as I quite liked having Ozbargain alert me of each week's Epic game store giveaway.

(29/02/2015 Shadow Complex Remastered) - this one is unrelated to the freebie drive but is included for the sake of completeness

By my count the number is 57 (excluding Shadow Complex).

    • Thank you for all the posts and the update. Overcooked was amazing. Havent touched any of the others, but spent a lot less on games this year as a result. Epic ftw

      • What Remains Of Edith Finch was my personal GOTY a couple years back. Other than that (and Overcooked), my picks from the above list would be The Witness, Stories Untold, Limbo, Celeste, Inside and the Batman Arkham games. You won't go wrong with any of those.

    • I think I got them all! Or at least a vast majority.

Now, I just need to buy a gaming PC and download the launcher 😂

    • I think I've got all of them.

    • Good to know my collection is complete, even though I will likely never play 90% of these games.

  • +4

For some reason the game crash when I launch it. Does anyone have the same issue?

    • +1

Yeah I've got the same issue.

    • Yes, me too

    • Yep. Although this solution didn't fix mine, give it a go.
