Both great series, if I didn't already have them on Blu-Ray I would have got both. :)

    Serenity is also $4.99

Anyone wondering if it is worth viewing, yes Battlestar Gallactica was one of the great sci-fi series, melding the space action with a a sort of mysticism very effectively that gives the show more depth. Very few dud episodes. Best TV sci-fi I've seen until The Expanse, although others may disagree.

    • +1

Rewatching it on Blu Ray at the moment and agree with you, not many episodes that are dull ones.

    • +1

The Expanse is amazing. But going back and watching BG is still excellent. And Boomer…… :D

Pretty much prefect explanation. I feel they are different approaches but equally great. The Expanse is far more "sciencey". They even got world class linguists in to work out how the languages would develop and change and create it for the series. And BSG, simply epic.

      So say we all!

    • Terrific storyline, you could binge watch it and not even realise how much time has passed.

Plus, Six is very easy on the eyes ;).

    • +3

It was awesome…..until the very end. The last episode was the most diappointing finish to an epic series that they could have done. So many stupid and illogical outcomes…arrggh so frustrating. Did they just all turn up on set one day and get told the show had been dropped, and writers were gone, and try to sum it up in one episode?
Nobody else disappointed with the conclusion to this great show?

      • It was all very rushed with some pretty arbitrary wrap ups of plot lines.

Here's something worth considering - BSG could have finished partway through the fourth season with the writers strike of 2007/2008, with the last episode written being Sometimes A Great Notion and the last scene being Tigh in the water realising who the fifth was. It would have been an epic mind-job of a finish…

  • The description on the Google Play Store states that only Stereo audio is available. Can someone please confirm that it doesn't support/have surround sound (DTD/DD)? Will just wait out for a blu-ray deal if that's the case.

These fracking OB deals are making me fracking broke

  • If only Google opinion rewards didn't steal all my reward money.

  • +9

    Ok, Boomer.

    • I see what you did there.

    • Took me a good 10 seconds to get that one. About time I re-watched this series I think.

    Bears, beets…. Battlestar Galactica

Identity theft its not a joke JIM!

BSG Trivia - Nicki Clyne, who played Cally on the show, was deep into that sex cult NXIVM with Allison Mack who was in Smallville. She was apparently 'married' to Allison Mack within the cult, who both were in turn slaves to the leader Keith Raniere. They would both basically lure other women into the cult at his bidding.

So yeah, enjoy the show knowing all that :D

    • +3

It would be even more enjoyable if the cult member was Tricia Helfer.

      • Well Allison Mack got Kristin Kreuk into NXIVM, so I have no doubt Nicki tried with Tricia Helfer.

Yeah, I'm aware I know too much about this haha.

        • +3

So did you try signing up?

          • -1

@Caped Baldy: Um he wasn't interested in guys, champ :D Girls that looked like Nicki Clyne, Allison Mack and Kristin Kreuk was the demographic.

Not meaning to sound super edgy but how many people actually buy TV series or whatever? Why not just download it?

    • +2

I'll buy TV series like this when they are silly cheap. I figure that I'm kinda voting on price with my wallet. When things are priced right I'll buy it.
Same with netflix. $15 per month for a massive library is reasonable to me. I grew up at a time when you'd hire 3 overnight movies for $12 tho so my reality is warped.

      • Look at Mr Fancypants over here with his overnight rentals!

I always had to wait till they went to weekly (though I think that had more to do with Mum not wanting to make two trips to the video store in as many days, rather than the actual cost)

        • I always had to wait till they went to weekly

          5 weeklies for $7 ftw

          Movieland entertains you

      • netflix

        massive library

Kek. get yourself a supermicro 24bay, kodi+aura skin and you have something better than Netflix.

Don't buy digital licenses or rent. You have zero guarantees you'll retain access to the content. So much stuff is gone forever now that people have become accustomed to streaming and digital rental/purchase.

        • Buy it then download a copy for future watching maybe?

          • @Drogo: That's what I do, but I've been lazy of late. Most of the time the limited-edition physical stuff is sold out so meh.

      • …and don’t forget to rewind or be fined

    • It's about supporting the content creators. I've downloaded in the past but there aren't affordable options to download/watch just what I want without a dozen subscriptions.

      • +3

I agree with supporting the content creators, but I much prefer to buy physical media to do so. Even at this price I'd still be pissed if one day Google loses the rights to show BSG and just "disappears" the content I've purchased.

        • +1

          Totally agree.

    • I have maybe 20 different TV series on either DVD or Blu-ray. Always bought when on Special price. Most of these I have watched at least twice. I'm a bit of a production geek and I like the extras they include on the discs too (best ever was all the Breaking Bad insights from Vince and his team. Fascinating).

  • +1

Does anyone know if this includes the extended episodes?
    * Pegasus
    * Unfinished Business
    * A Disquiet Follows My Soul
    * Islanded In A Stream Of Stars
    * Daybreak

I also notice that this set doesn't include Razor which doesn't appear to be available on the Play store at all

  • +1

Showing my age, but IMHO the 1978 version was better.

    • +6

      Ok Boomer :P

    • +3

      By your command.

    • Get that up your Muffet :)

      • +1

        Muffit was a good daggit!

  • Bsg is one of the best of all time

  • So say we all!

  • I've heard they have changed the viewing order in some releases of this. Does anyone have any insight to this?

  • Number 3!

  • +1

Exodus part 2 when pegasus saves galactic and destroys a few base stations is my favourite bit. But I still don't understand why you would sacrafice the newest more advanced battlestar to save the old one but I guess it's called battlestar galaxtica not battlestar pegasus

  • I get "The Complete Series isn't available yet". Anyone else getting that?

    • I'm getting it's $58.99

      • Looks like it's over
