Advice Needed: iPhone 11 under $110/Month Plan

Background -
I have been offered up-to $100/m phone allowance from my work as part of the new contract. Company policy only allows iPhone as BYOD. I'm considering iPhone 11 to satisfy company policy :)
The max period for a plan 12 months.
40GB data will be more than enough.
I'm happy to pay up to $110/m for phone and the plan, basically $10/m out of pocket.

Question -
what will be the best option/plan to utilise $100/m and get an iPhone 11 on a plan. So far I think Telstra 12-Month Post Paid 60GB $65 Per Month & $500 JB Hi-Fi Gift Card would be the best deal.
Basically $700 out of pocket (iPhone 11 ~ $1200 )- (Giftcard $500) = $700 and only using $65/m of allocated $100 allowance.

    😐

  • Yeah that’s probably the best deal at the moment. I think there’s a 12 mth contract available.

    iPhone 11 64Gb
    Optus $100/month ($49 service, $51 phone)
    60Gb

No lock in contract, leave after 12 months and pay out 12x$51 = $612 out of pocket

If you want/need Telstra, going on contract is better if you can extend employment anything past 12 months.

    Telstra $109.95/month ($60 service,$49.95 phone)
    60Gb

No Lock in Contract, leave after 12 months and pay out 12x$49.95 = $599.40 plus $9.95/month for the 12 months in contract = $119.40 = $718.80 out of pocket at 12 months,
    but
if you can extend employment to 13 months, then $549.45 + $129.35 = $678.8 out of pocket

Assuming you will remain employed for 12 months, it's borderline better to go on contract (and that's before factoring any inconvenience experienced trying to use the $500 gift Card) and if you extend past 12 months the benefits quickly add up.

      Further edit..
      Optus offer 12 month plans..
64Gb iPhone on a 60Gb $102/month plan + $47/month device repayment across 12 months only = $49/month out of pocket, $588 out of pocket at the end of the year.

    • (and that's before factoring any inconvenience experienced trying to use the $500 gift Card)

FYI, you can immediately redeem the $500 JB gift card and use it to cover part of the initial upfront cost of the phone.
