Canon Maxify MB5460 Inkjet MFC $178 + Delivery ($0 C&C) @ Harvey Norman & Amazon AU

220

Seems to be a good deal for what you get. This was a Black Friday sale that was listed as ending at midnight between Tuesday 3rd and Wednesday 4th December - however as of now (20 minutes past midnight) the "Ends Tonight!" label has been removed but the price is still the same.

Click & Collect is free if you have stock near you - I got mine from Campbelltown.

Also available from Amazon with free delivery, but there is an almost two month delivery wait. (https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/offer-listing/B077FQ52FK/ref=dp…)

Alternatively, also available from Megabuy for $179.90 + delivery.

What you get:

  • colour inkjet
  • 2 paper trays with total 500 page capacity
  • genuine K ink cost seems to be about 2.3 cents/page* (b&w printing)
  • aftermarket K ink cost seems to be about 0.7 cents/page* (b&w printing)
  • 600x1200 print dpi
  • waterproof ink
  • USB, ethernet and wireless connectivity
  • single-pass duplex colour scanning

Anyway, my first ever deal post - hope it's not useless. Edit: LOL, turns out it's my second posted deal, not first. I forgot.

*I worked these out from the prices at InkStation.com.au

+1 for research/effort put into first post. Thank you OP!

You should mention that is for black & white printing

  • I have the canon IP7260. It's a home printer (no scanner) but you get 30x ink cartridges fro $30 delivered on eBay. I wanted a maxify, but the ink is pricey. Good level of research but. Heard good things about the Maxify range, apart from the ink not lasting that long (for uni students)

For some reason I don't quite understand, the Maxify 2760 is almost identical but the ink lasts half as long. I have no idea why that would be. It seems to eb the only difference apart from the 2760 not doing duplex scanning. In lots of places it costs MORE than the 5460, but only Megbuy has it for the near-decent price of $121.

It's a different ink tank in the 2xxx range - PGI-1600XL vs PGI-2600XL - seems to be half capacity.

I picked up one of these a few months ago - does a decent job but feels slow coming from lasers.

The duplex scanner is very handy.

  • Bought this and broken twice, replaced 1 within 12 month warranty period, but the local repairer refused to give me any receipt which should extend the warranty for the replacement unit for another 12 months, I would definitely suggest you get a laserjet colour one for extra and avoid this model or even this brand.

    • My brand new one broken, it is a defective model.

I bought this one from another place. Do not print photos with it.

    Poor colour
    No borderless option

Other than that it's great for scanning, document printing

  • I had a similar one, MB5xxx, faulty out of the box.

  • I have this printer. I'll never get a Canon again, it takes forever to start printing and swallows ink like crazy.

Got it for ~70 after a Canon cash back promotion though which makes up for it.
