  • I wonder how much difference between the Bip and the Aldi watch https://www.aldi.com.au/en/special-buys/special-buys-sat-7-d…

    • +1

Does the Aldi have GPS or local music storage?

      • Bip has music storage?

        • No music storage, but Bip (non lite version) has GPS. Bip has transreflective display so battery life is good. At least 2 weeks with regular use. Not sure about Aldi watch

          • @bui: I have the Bip and I have to say the GPS is not a useful feature, in fact I'd prefer it withouth. The watch is continually updating with GPS info and when it does the display is unresponsive.

The Bip is actually a few years old now. I feel like buying the Aldi watch just for kicks. I expect it has a faster processor and better watch face. The Bip's watch face is nothing impressive.

On the other hand, the battery life is Amazing. It lasts well over a month between charges.

            • @mranderson978: Been using bip over a year
One big pro on this watch is you have over a thousand of watch faces to choose from

For iOS, the app called AmazTools can install any custom watch faces

For android, there’s an app do it as well, forgot the name tho

      • It would be in the specs if it did, but it ain't, so it likely doesn't

hmm, wonder if there is any special for the gts model

    • same here, it's still around 175 to 200ish these days, no sales on black Friday and cyber Monday

  • does this have google pay?

  • Anyone know if you can sync the GPS data to Nike Run Club?

    EDIT: Looks like you can.

  • Aldi - "Blood pressure monitoring "

Thank you but no thank you. Marketing stuff.

    • Also says it can measure v02 Max, no idea how that works

This is actually pretty good pricing!

Amazfit Bip Lite is normally around the $80, but it looks like you're getting the full Amazefit Bip (GPS/compass etc on board).

    Plus vote, good find!

  • I am serious considering one of these since my GWatch is on the blink and I can't get my Pebble working for some reason. Anyone have any better recommendations?

    • +2

My Pebble is dying, so I'm trying other options.

The Ionic I'm using has terrible battery life - it's a friend's who isn't using it as it has… bad battery life now - but normally it last a while.

I can't see enough info on the screen at a time, as it's a kinda 16:9 setup.

Features are nice. Screen difficult to read in broad Australian daylight.

It's definitely got Pebble DNA in it, but on the whole it's been a less than pleasant experience.

The Versa 2 reviews well - same as Ionic, smaller, no GPS (Uses your phone's, so it's not really a fitness watch)

Has FitBit Pay, which is probably the killer feature.

Versa 2 is Has Amazon Alexa assistant.

Battery life is about a week.

If you're in the Apple ecosystem, Apple Watch is probably the one to get - does everything well.

WearOS is held back by the crappy processors, which means they never get more than a day or so battery life.

I've never tried the Samsung ones, but they seem pretty good.

there really is nothing like the Pebble :/

        • There really isn't…I weep for my Pebble Round-less life often especially when you consider the current offerings of e-ink watches

      • Bit more expensive, but look into the Amazfit GTR & Amazfit GTS. I just bought the GTS after getting my Amazfit Bip stolen..

It maybe what you're looking for.

Xiaomi has just published their own brand Xiaomi watch which is fully functional android wear and google wear OS system and up to 18 hour for normal use. There is really no point getting this round shape "mi band"

    • +1

Got a link to the new Xiaomi watch?

      • it looks like an apple watch rip off.

    • battery life probably reduced to a day or less if it's full android wear.

    • 18 hours for normal use? That's not even a full day.

  • I bought two of Bips from this shop (amazfit official) together with other items from other sellers on 11.11.

Other goods arrived in less then two weeks. Bip's order tracking page is saying that goods were delivered on 28th, 12:23PM but I didn't get them. My wife was at home at the day, no one came, no postcard in the mail either. Of course there is a chance that postman sneaked and dropped a parcel on the front porch where it was stolen by another ninja (which is highly unlikely, very quiet old-fashioned street, plus porch is far from the road), but I think it's just something fishy either with these guys or with their delivery company.

Raised a dispute, let's see what's going to happen.

  • The price for the Bip is pretty good, but expect major discounting in coming weeks, as the Bip 2 has been released recently. We can expect them to dump older Bip stock.

  • what is the difference between one of these and a smart watch? It looks like one.

  • ESDEALIBF code not working:

This promo code is a limited offer and is no longer available

I've had this watch for 2.5 years, bought it for around $100.

Great watch, well made, still get ppl admiring the watch.
Battery still lasts around 5 days on a full charge. This includes using GPS for around an hour a day.
Connects to Strava and other fitness apps (you'll need to connect through the watch app)
Too lazy to store music on the device, but used it once and works well
Not full android OS, but does the basics well enough
Controls music from your phone if connected. Works, but a bit laggy sometimes.
Can easily switch out bands for a new look
I don't think its rated for swimming, but not keen to test it.
My only issues is that the charger usb connection is a little loose now, but a rubber band holds it at the right angle to get it charged. Charger parts available.

Keen to upgrade, but haven't got a reason to just yet

  • Anyone else had their credit card compromised by this transaction?

I'm curious as this is the second time in a few years I suspect a transaction through AliExpress has caused by credit card to be cancelled due to unauthorised further transactions a few days later.
