Gerni Pressure Washer Hose Inlet Connector Keeps Popping off

Got the Gerni 100.3 from a Bunnings deal a while back. One thing that is driving me nuts is how the hose keeps coming off the inlet connector at the front of the unit with almost any movement of the garden hose or unit. And since the tap is one quite high, just results in a lot of water everywhere and back and forth between the tap.

I'm talking about the connector that looks like this:

Anyone know of any alternate 3rd party replacement connectors with a bit more bulk, or other OzBargain-approved ways to deal with this?

  • check the condition of the rubber oring
check the condition of the hose end, does it have trouble holding onto other sprayers/wands etc/?
are you 100% sure it is fully clicking on?
could always replace the item you have linked too as it is not specific to Gerni - same fitting as commonly used on taps
or go to hoselink fittings the item in the top half of this pack can screw directly onto Gerni, what you do after that has many variations

Ive had it on every pressure washer i've ever used tbh, it wouldn't suprise me if its an designed weakness.

Perhaps go to the plumbing section at bunnings with that piece and see if something can screw in. Or a complete replacement for the hose and that piece - example

When attaching the hose, i pull the hose mechanism forward to lock it on completely (not just relying on it to click into place).

  • It's the front screw on hose connector that came with the Gerni washer. Not sure if the threaded screw end happens to be the same size/threading as normal tap ware (I don't think it is …)

But if it was I would try a different connector for sure.

It should be a standard to fitting. Screw it off and see do it fits your tap.

Get a reputable brand one as a replacement and one for the hose as well.

Look inside the connector on the hose. The locking tabs inside can be damaged which will make it pop off when under pressure.
Switch the ends of the hose around, if it pops off the tap instead you know that's the problem.

is the part worn? is the hose block?

That’s what glue was made for.

Get a good brand, such as Gardena - male and female, don't mix parts with cheap Chinese clones.

  • yeah plastic is shit. You need to get a brass replacement for both ends. These connectors tend to wear down over time and don't handle well with pressure.

    • Yes. Brass is good. Replaced quite a lot of mine over the years, but now have moved to the hoselink system. It is a squillion times better.

      • Good to here. Did a quick search on google and it's a very nice package.

Do you see any foreseeable issues with the plastic connection with another brand trigger hose?

        • Hoselink stuff comes with a threaded adaptor that fits to standard garden tap threads, both sizes.

The only disadvantage I’ve found of hoselink stuff is that it is only available online which means you can’t duck down to the local shop to get any extra bits.

I had the same issue and just replaced it with a regular tap hose connector (yes this is on the pressure washer end, the threads are the same) Works a treat. https://www.bunnings.com.au/aqua-systems-12mm-universal-tap-…

  • I had the same issue and it was the connector on the hose, not the gerni fitting. I replaced it with a brass connector that had the water stop valve in it. Around $12

Also you have to click it on then give it a 2nd push.

  • Just a wrap up incase anyone comes across this later. Used the washer yesterday and as a couple of people pointed out it is the same fitting/thread as standard tap, so this time I screwed on one of my spare fittings and it was definitely way more secure.

So goodbye crappy Gerni hose connector!
