Which King Size Mattress Brand Do I Buy? Sleeping Duck / Koala or Other

Hi guys!

We wish to up grade our mattress from Queen to King size.

I have searched online in relation to brands and have found much hype surrounding Koala and Sleeping duck mattresses.

Looking for any feedback on the above brands. What firmness did you purchase and are they super comfortable as the reviews claim?

What other brands would you recommended?

Thanks so much for your help :)

I had been using a spring mattress for 20 odd years at my parents house. When I moved out, I got a Koala mattress.

Didn't notice the difference at first. Couple of months went by and I stayed over at my parents one night and that was when I realised the difference. I can not recommend Koala enough. I was shocked that I had been sleeping on something so uncomfortable for so many years. Best purchase I have made by far.

I have never tried the Sleeping Duck or Ecosa mattresses so cannot give a fair review.

  • Ignore branding of mattresses and get out there and lie on a few of them. You will notice a big difference as there are a million variations (mostly to prevent price matching). Mattress is not something you should buy online.

  • We're going to get a Koala soon. There's hardly any difference between Queen and King beds (in person when we looked), but if you're sure it'll be worth the expense for you go ahead I guess.

We have got both Koala and Ergoflex memory foam mattresses in the house and tried both after moving in to see which we preferred. Comfort wise we can't really tell them apart, but find the Ergoflex is a bit cooler to sleep in so we use that and moved the Koala to the spare bedroom.

Zzz Atelier, ok reviews, cheap enough to try.

But most of the bed in a box companies offer free trial periods.

This is the mattress I bought last year & I have never slept better

    https://www.harveynorman.com.au/body-balance-lotus-medium-ki…

It is medium firm because I have a sore back, but you can get a softer version (plush)
The best thing to do is go in store & try them out.
Lay on then for awhile, if it does not cause you discomfort (good),
if you fall asleep on a mattress, buy it :)

    • If you don't mind saying, roughly how much was it.

  • the mattress was on special so it was $3000 instead of $5400,
I also used cash which helps,
I probably could have got the same discount if I put it on one of those 'buy now interest free for 50 months' things

    • That's an expensive mattress.

I remember the last mattress I bought, I got it from Harvey Norman and it was $3200 and only released that week. I paid on finance and got it for $2000 with barely any haggling. The markup on these are huge.

      • Everyone wants their piece of the pie
But you have to think that you will use it for years and you spend a third of your day in one,
so you may as well make it a good bed.

I bought it as I am old and it will be the last bed I will get,
so I may as well make it a good one.
I am also on a pension and I don't know when I will ever have money again to buy a bed in the future

  • Zzz Atelier, I bought one after reading it here but find too soft and giving a back ache! Have written to customer service but no response so far!

  • We went with Eva because it claims edge support. The edge support isn't as great as your Sealys and equivalent, but definitely better than Koala and all the foam only mattresses.

    • How how the Eva been ? Trying to choose between Eva and noa

      • Still going well. I've not got any experience with noa

        • No worries good to know, thank you
