LG UltraGear 34GK950F-B 34" Ultrawide Curved Gaming Monitor Nano IPS Panel $1212.42 Delivered (NZ) @ Futuregear eBay

PRINCE200

This is likely the best 21:9 IPS monitor around at the moment that appeals to gamers, creatives, and media enthusiasts alike. I've been refreshing 19 pages for almost two weeks in search of this beauty, and finally found an OzBargain! This arguably shits on the X34P and the AW3418DW, a currently active Dell deal selling it for $1189.40

One of the quickest purchases I've made in a while. I know there is limited stock, but I still wanted to share.

expertreviews

There are reasons to believe the LG 34GK950F is the perfect monitor. It features a large 34in curved IPS panel that runs 3,440 x 1,440 natively at 144Hz. The inclusion of HDR shouldn’t go unnoticed, either; it’s certified by VESA DisplayHDR. Through Nvidia’s latest driver update, this AMD FreeSync 2 monitor also runs G-Sync. With a striking design, a responsive panel and a large 21:9 aspect ratio, it’s an incredible monitor.

tftcentral

Overall the 34GK950F was a really interesting screen to test, with a range of features that are currently unique to this part of the market. This is the only ultrawide screen currently to support 144Hz refresh rate natively at a full 3440 x 1440 resolution. It's the only 1440p resolution ultrawide IPS screen with FreeSync and a high refresh rate above 75Hz. And finally, it's the only ultrawide IPS panel with a wide colour space offered. That's a lot of unique selling points right there!"

For those comparing the G-SYNC model which is objectively inferior in most cases (not that we have much choice here in Australia)

The G model is still the right choice in our opinion if you've got a lower end NVIDIA card (lower than GTX 10-series and RTX 20-series) and won't be able to support either DisplayPort 1.4, or VRR on the F model. The G-sync support is going to be particularly useful for gaming on such a high resolution and refresh rate if you've got a lower range NVIDIA card. Given the F model can now support VRR from top end NVIDIA cards, and the lag has been eliminated, it is the obvious choice over the G model for those with either a high end NVIDIA card, or an AMD card of course.

No! Don't do it! The 38" with higher vertical res is barely any more.

    $1313 https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/333374486738

    • Model?

      • Sorry, not a "gaming monitor". Got my models mixed up.

I'd still buy the 38" personally, but that's just me.

        • +6

Yeah man, these are apples and oranges. Just to begin with, 60 Hz vs 144 Hz, 1 MS vs 5 MS, 3840 x 1600px vs 3440 x 1440px. Also Nano IPS… Thank you for scaring me though!

        • +1

These monitors are not even in the same comparable market.
60hz, 5ms GTG and lack of Freesync or G-Sync makes this a non-starter for a gamer.

        • Spec wise its significantly worse in every single thing except size. Why would you pay more for that model?

          • @ls123: If you don't do the research I can see how someone may not see the significant differences from the surface.

  • The item is from New Zealand so we are not covered by ACL right?

    • Not sure on this one mate.

I'd probably get the LG OLED C9 if I'm looking to drop this much on a monitor.

    • -1

The Samsung OLED LC49RG90 is the next best thing, and it's a minimum of $1000 more than this, and needs a 2080 Ti to drive it.

    • +1

      Err that's a TV?

      • +3

They are recently got certified with G-Sync and could do 4K@120hz or 1440P@120Hz so all in all a pretty great gaming monitor.

        • +2

Use an OLED for a monitor and you're just going to get burned

      • +2

Yeah but it's 120Hz, OLED and is getting G-sync certified via software update. And 55" 16:9 is a way larger area than 34" 21:9

I don't believe MBR/ULMB works though and it will probably have worse grey to grey performance.

what about tax here ? anyone purchased from futuregear before?

    • No tax confirmed with the seller.

  • I've had this monitor on my wish list for so long!

  • +1

Got this monitor for $1345 from computer alliance last week after cash back. So damn good, highly recommended!

  • Damn tempting, I'm already rocking a 34" similar resolution for 4 months (MSI MAG341CQ) so I'd have to sell that and it would be $700 upgrade just to get Nano IPS…. decisions decisions.

    • Moving from a VA panel to this IPS would be a huge upgrade. Totally night and day.

What are the specs of this PC (I.E CPU and Ram)??

    • +4

Its a monitor, not a PC

  • Looks like LG has put the monitor on special in the US for Black Friday. USD$799 at Amazon, bhphoto, newegg etc

  • Too bad it's not gsync :/

    • It will work as G-SYNC does if you have a 1XXX+ card with the recent Nvidia update.

      • It may be 'compatible', but it doesn't work exactly the same.

        • For those of you who were eager to see if the LG 34GK950F-B works with GSync, then good news folks! We can confirm that the LG 34GK950F-B does indeed work with GSync when enabled from the NVidia control panel.

No flickering or artifacts were noticed when running Pendulum Test, Doom 3, Fortnite, PUBG and CS:GO using a GTX2080Ti and an Intel Core i7 9900-K.

This might not be surprising since the LG 34GK950F-B uses the same panel as its sibling the LG 34GK950G. More specifically, the Freesync version also boasts better specs than its the Gsync counterpart. However, by choosing the LG 34GK950F-B you will be missing out on the RGB lighting which the LG 34GK950G has. Nonetheless, you will be able to get 144Hz, better colour depth, HDR400 and MBR mode with the Freesync 34GK950F-B monitor, which the 34GK950G doesn’t have.

          • @mfauser: However, the G-sync version has slightly better response times and no overshoot according tftcentral. There's also no overshoot or stuttering at lower frames when using G-sync, compared to Freesync, due to variable overdrive. Probably not a problem with a 2080Ti maintaining high frames though.

  • Seriously tempting. I was thinking of either getting this monitor or a 32" non ultrawide, unsure if i want ultrawide or not.

  • Anyone have shipping confirmation yet?

  • Bought this monitor a while back when the alienware 34 inch was on sale and someone linked it for ~$1300
Arrived cracked and had a terrible time dealing with this company's customer service folk
In the end I had to go through ebay to refund me.
I would not purchase something from them again, even if it was a few hundred cheaper than the nearest competitor.

  • +2

Would avoid Futuregear at all costs. After 6 messages on eBay they have finally come back with "We can't locate the stock, we will organise a refund". I strongly suggest that everyone leaves the feedback they deserve. They are the eBay store for PBTech in NZ, so I called through and talked to the gentleman who runs the eBay side of things who appeared to be awfully incompetent. They don't have fantastic reviews, so it was a risk.
