It is advertised in the coles brochure this week that it is only the 6 chocolate bar flavours on sale. Cadbury did this as they predicted that the demand for the bars would be great (which it is) so they halted production of the other flavours and increased production of the 6 on sale. Anyway I work at Coles and we have been told that if a customer asks for one of the flavours that isn't on special for the half-price then we have to give it to them at that price. But we have been told to explain to the customer about the 6 so be forceful. You might not think its worth it but, hey its chocolate. :D

heh heh. The 'rep' tag also makes me chuckle….
I guess as an employee, he or she would be attacked if they didn't tick the box. So you can't criticize the up-front attitude to disclosure……
im puzzled by the "so they halted production of the other flavours and increased production of the 6 on sale"
I just imagine oompla loompas being whipped as they work too slow to churn out flavours??!?
I'm not criticising the up-front attitude.
Instead I just found it a little amusing because the OP is clearly telling us how to exploit a "loophole"… and that's not exactly the standard behaviour of a rep.
But as someone else has pointed out - this is ozBargain, not standardBargain.
Lol saw someone arguing with the checkout staff today because the green (peppermint?) cadbury block they wanted didnt scan up on special..
Was this at the Fairfield Store?
Thanks for the tip - good to know our options on this good bargain.
Me: Can I get the Chocolate as half price
Checkout Chick : NowayI see what you did there OP
thanks for the heads up
it's worth a tryInsider information!
..nice.
But not exactly a standard bargain.
luckily this is ozBargain not standardBargain.
I picked up a couple of blocks that I thought were on special due to poor signage.
I did complain and Coles were very rude. Ended up leaving all my shopping on the counter and leaving the store.
Very poor sale that is easy to confuse and annoy customers.
Down, Down, Service is Down. The Coles I often shop at (Mt Ommaney, Qld) has the BEST service of all the Coles I go to! Everytime I ask a staff member for help they go out of their way to help! Once I was trying to find something I really needed (which was cheap Coles branded) but they had none in stock and they sold me a premium item (which has a price tag of 4 times that) for the same price! The staff member offered it to me with a smile (Just so I don't walk away not getting what I need because it was out of stock!) Since then, despite the fact I used to shop at different ones, I try to give my exclusive patronage to this one unless I am out of town… Amazing service! Hope they keep it up! (Also, unlike other Coles I go to, their small trolleys don't need a gold coin!) =)
Which store did you go to? You should write an email to them, they'll sometimes offer gift cards to placate plebes like us.
Mt Ommaney, Qld (as mentioned above) =)
I can't say much about the service of other Coles, as some that I have been to were mediocre.
Think this store had a revamp and they have a big emphasis on SERVICE. They actually did face-to-face surveys a couple of months ago and asked their customers what they wanted. Think one of the things everyone hated was having to put a gold coin to access the small shopping carts, so they removed that! I was sooo thrilled when they did! I love those cute little shopping carts lol!I love it when the store actually listens to what their customers want!
sorry s s - the question was directed to deal88
I went to Coles in Ivanhoe, Victoria.
The thing that bugs me is when they said "we have had a few people confused about the prices".
If that is the case. Fix the bloody signs.
Just a point on product shrinkage. In recent years we measured a 'bargain' on major brand chocolate as being $1 per 100g. Now I note that at the time normal milk chocolate (and others) were 250g blocks. These milk chocolate blocks in the Coles catalogue are only 200g so they are smaller in size and more than $1 per 100g. Obviously that's what the stoppage has been on other lines, to change the moulds to smaller ones. Ripped off by many manufactures these days substituting smaller sizes for the same price. NOT HAPPY JAN!!
Yep, I was right, look at the front of the IGA catalogue and the blocks are down to 160-200g.
That's why the supermarket has to also price the item in a standard unit on the price tag, to make it easy to compare prices.
Cadbury blocks went from 250g to 200g back in mid 2009, its nothing recent.
just like the mars range went from 60 g to 53g
Now the Kellogg
your forgetting the most important one…chips! down to 200g from 230 i believe.
btw the coles shop in mt..whatever is a concept store…u would have most likely noticed that the uniforms in that store may have also changed from blue to greyish.
my store in glen waverley has the same deal and they even offer price-matching! along with a number of other services…i work there btw! From 250g down to 200g and some 175g that's at least a 20% decrease in product and the same price.
Ehm… so the 'bargain' is that there's chocolate which isn't on special and if you nag someone enough they might give it to you at the same price…
Pretty flakey… (no pun intended)
