I'm not a TV snob, but it is very pretty, works as it should and big. Can't complain, but I would likely be just as happy with a nice Samsung, LG, Panasonic, Sony erc

Depends on your budget. But looking at them both in-store the R8 was less reflective and seemed to have more vibrant colours. I couldn't figure out if anything above R6 was worth it for me until I went and looked at them all side by side
