        Yup. Works on my iPhone.

Strangely, won't load on my Win7 Netbook.

    +1 to them

  • Do they do coupons often? I have a membership but is there an email subscription list you can sign up for?

    • No, not very often. Its piss poor imo.
The last coupons I got before this was back in Feb. I thought they were starting to do it monthly because they arrived a month after the January coupons.

The trend atm seems to be JAN/FEB/AUG, last two years at least.

Maybe as more stores open they might be able to offer more coupons.
When I renewed today it asked for my email tho they already had it.
Try [email protected] its the email supplied for unsubscribing so I'd guess it works the other way as well.

  • i think you dont need the coupons. last time i took the coupon to the register, the lady told me it was already in the system

    • Aye you don't need to have the coupons the price is already adjusted.
In the US you need the coupons but ppl leave stacks of them near the products on sale anyway.

  • Are there still huge lines at CostCo? Last time I drove by there were so many people I didn't want to go in :/

    • +1

Not sure what times you can get in but I'm usually in and out of there with a full trolley in an hour at about 1pm on a week day.
I think they have better idea of when the busy periods are now and staff the registers accordingly.

Dirtybird, you're from MEL like me, however, kangaberries is from SYD and that store is still heaving apparently!?

        • +1

ah then yeah I can imagine it would be a nightmare to get in and around. I remember the queues at Melb on opening, a couple of hours at least.

    • Yeah it's horrible I went there today at 11am on a Monday and omg the line is like all the way through to the carpark so I gave up and left. :/

      • Wow really?
I went on opening day after school at about 4pm got out just before 6pm and that's me and my slow mum going through EVERY aisle, lined up for like 5mins and got served, all the registers were open and had 3 people per register (one to load ur stuff onto the trolly, one to scan, and one to neatly pack your things back onto ur trolly, damn they're efficient, wonder if they like own high scores in tetris or something lol)

  • is it tru you need to have a membership fee?

  • ThanksOP. Parking is too difficult for Melbourne Costco.

    • Interesting, since I have never been there. I wonder how difficult it might be if there wasn't a $60 fee? Costco parking lot gets ozbargained!! Probably will get better when they open more stores

    • I've experienced the parking nightmare and once just didnt bother going in.
550 spaces available under the store, under 2hrs is free.
Can get busy at the same times that other shops do and I'd say weekends would be the worse.
Could be difficult any time of the week if you need a disabled space or drive a truck.

      • Sydney's store is very well designed. Big, stand-alone complex with heaps of parking (even on the opening days I lucked into a spot by the lifts).

  • It is worth getting the membership if you are one a single person household?
everything there is such bulk buy

    • +3

Depends on what you buy and how much space you have in your house/fridge/freezer.

I will be going there next to buy the 2 Oral B toothbrush set which is the best price in Australia. Cheaper to get meat and veggies from market at normal quantities.

I first went to Costco on a guest pass. I made a list of things I needed, then brought up OzBargain on my phone and searched for the items which would be listed on supermarket specials posted here. Most of the supermarket specials beat Costco's price. But normal price at Costco was much better than normal price at supermarket.

EDIT: Remember $60 fee is refundable. More than likely I will get a refund as I don't go there enough times. The caveat is that you can't join up again for 12 months after you get the refund.

Thanks Niel — finally some clarification on this point:-

"The caveat is that you can't join up again for 12 months after you get the refund."

    • I'm not sure how their system checks if you have previously been a member but I didn't give them my email address nor mentioned my partner in the application. The thinking was if I cancel but then decide I want a membership, then I can get my partner to sign up.

Also, I should amend the fruit and veggie statement. Carrots are similarly priced to markets but I got 2 KGs of Granny Smiths for $3/kg which beats the market by a lot.

      • +1

not sure if that really bargain for me Neil, i went to Flemington market in sydney, carrot 3kg = $2. apple average price between $1-2/kg since more chinese apple coming in to Australia, the apple price getting down more and more.
Banana yesterday i saw $6/kg, average supermarket $8-9/kg
        broccoli $1/kg
        cucumber $2/kg
tomato $3/kg (price still a bit higher than 2 months before, average price 2 months ago was $1-$2/kg)
        wom bok $1-2/each
        avocado $1-2/kg
        cauliflower $1-2/each
        mushroom button $4-5/kg
        shallot 50 cents - 80 cents
        garlic $1-1.50 / 500 grams
        ginger $6-$8 / kg
        orange $1-2/kg
strawberry $5/ 3-5 punnets; on my lucky day i can have $5 for 2 box (1 box = 12 punnets)
        lettuce $0.5 - 1 / each, on my lucky day i can have $1-2 / box.
corn $2 / 4 pcs, on my lucky day i can have $5 / box
i can put the list on and on, and that is another reason i am very rare bought any vegies and fruits from supermarket, even from aldi.

        • That's a great list joannatan. Looks like I have to find a better market or move to Sydney.

        • Sebago Potato $1/pack- 3kg, 50 cent /pack 1 kg
sweet potato $1/kg (i know woolworth and coles average price around $3/kg on sale around $2/kg)
back to banana, if situation back to normal, average price around $1/kg, most supermarket selling $1-2/kg
