Creative Aurvana Live! Headphones - $69 (Free Shipping) [SOLD OUT]

240

Fairly killer deal for a portable headphone well received in the audiophile crowd at head-fi.org, especially direct from the Australian subsidiary store outlet.

Note these share the same drivers as the Denon AH-D1001K headphones with slightly different housing which are also well received.

$69 with free shipping makes them a steal (usually $89-$99), and what's more they're only marginally marked up in ozland compared to the US (they're going for $59 on the US store right now).

Reputedly great sound quality for the price, good comfort, good build quality but fairly low isolation for a closed design headphone.

thanks those review links are very helpful

  • The price has been dropping steadily for a while, actually. It stayed at $72 for several months prior to this.

  • +1. When I was looking at it, it was $79 on the creative store. Thanks for the reminder.

  • how is this compare to ad700? is this better?
very tempted. I already have the ad700 but wonder if this would be a upgrade ?

    • and how is this compare with X-Fi?

      • @bonbon

Hmm they are marked down a lot but I'd stay away since they're noise cancelling and weren't particularly well received at their original price (~$200 in the states by the looks of it).

Noise cancelling is great for flights where there is a constant hum but they won't cancel out erratic noise very well. Because of the way they work they'll also add slight background hum. Really it's a bit of a consumer gimmick we mostly have Bose to thank for perpetuating, I would take standard sound dampening (closed) headphones any day over noise cancelling (for portables, the HD25-1 IIs which reputedly isolate very well, although they're a lot pricier).

Anyway for the X-fis, considering that a good $50-$100 of the original price would have been this feature, there's virtually no mention of them on head-fi.org, and they were otherwise not well received, I'd probably stay away.

        • thanks for the reply

    • @andy2

They'd be more bassy than the AD700s, almost certainly have a smaller soundstage since they're closed and have much smaller cups although be much more portable as a result. Given that they are portable and about half the price they shouldn't sound as good but it's always a matter of personal preference. They're really made for different purposes though.

      • thanks for ur advice, might just get one just to try it out, can always resell it on ebay if i dont like it

  • will definitely order a pair ! thanks

  • How do these compare to JVC HA-RX700 (Which are said to be incredibly similar to AD700) because I'm planning on purchasing the JVCs for $55 delivered?

(Googled it… Creatives are better except for build quality)

    • +1

No idea, probably quite comparable in sound quality. Main point would be that the Aurvana Live's are portable whereas the RX700s would practically only be for home use given their size.

    • where are you getting them from for $55 ?

+1 for not saying "first post, go easy on me" and for providing the review links in the description

    • Heh, cheers mate :)

  • How comfortable are they? The reason I like my AD700's is because they are so comfortable to wear for a very long time.

    • +1

Apparently they are comfortable but after a few hours they start to become a bit annoying.

I have a pair they are comfortable but they do get warm. In terms or build they are nice (the dual cable is a bit of a pain). They sound quite nice but not bassy (if you are after bassy cans look away). In terms of the X-Fi they are better overall and I would purchase them if I was to buy again. Either way they are a nice buy.

    • btw if the volume is up too loud they will leak a bit.

how does it compare with ATH-ES7?

    • First review up top says they're considerably better.

    • better trust me

Sold out ? Needs to be marked as expired ?

  • cant believe i missed out, maybe i just get the Aurvana air instead

  • Don't worry guys, check back in a week or so, they'll be back in stock. They're always going out of stock and coming back in >.<

  • back in stock!!

  • I used to own a pair. They do make your ears a bit sweaty after long use.

They were charging $69! Now they're going to overcharge by 95 cents! OOHHHH MMYYYYY GOOOOOOOOOOOOOODDDDDDDD!!!!

  • What is wrong with this site? Are they doing inventory counts or something? It was available for purchase this morning and I purchased one, but now it's sold out again?

    • +1

I think it got OzBargain'ed, considering there's a notify me button I think those who missed out on the first round would've gotten an email every time they added stock, and then just buy them all lol

    • Fair enough.

  • does anyone know if the cable is completely separate from the headphones themself?

i've never liked the idea of having my cable as the single point of failure for headphoes. :(

    • Don't think you can remove them. You can always change wiring through soldering.

  • It's available again! But for 95 cents more…..

  • I ordered them for 70 and they came in today. They are amazing! Comfortable, but they do make your ears hot after a while, but thats the case for all closed headphones. I can't image the AD700s being any better than this (Maybe they're a bit more comfortable though)!

    • AD700s aren't closed headphones so the hot ears shouldn't be a problem or if it is, it'll take longer.

      • Oh well, I prefer saving $50 anyway.
