    Targeted

  • I got it on my platinum edge only as well. Didn't get it on my other 2 cards.

  • got it on my amex gold; never used an amazon offer before

  • Only on my Velocity Escape primary …

  • Got on velocity platinum

  • +1

I got it on my Amex velocity escape card

  • thanks, got it on my platinum reserve card only, not on the charge

  • Got it on my primary velocity essential, not any supp. cards .

Wish it was prime useable though…due for renewal.

  • +1

    Amex Essential primary only..

  • +1

    Thanks op. Velocity Platinum

  • Yeah got it on my gold card but not my platinum credit. Good timing as I have some things to purchase, just waiting to see if any of the items go on sale this weekend.

  • Nice, can probably use it to purchase Amazon gift card.

    • +1

Why not actually buy something from the black friday sale coming up? Lol

      • can always use the gift card to buy something from the sale.

        • +1

No cash back with gc though

          • @Hallaj: I didn't see an exclusion for gift cards?

          • +3

@Hallaj: Yes there is. I’ve tried it and it works.

          • +2

            @Hallaj: This is not true.
Both CashRewards and ShopBack explicitly state in their T&C for Amazon that cashback is payable when using a gift card (but NOT store credit).

  • Nothing for me. Going to have to remove Amex as the Amazon preferred method I think

    • Amex is my preferred option and I got it, might be luck?

      • That's interesting. I thought they must have targeted those not using Amex for Amazon. As you suggest could be luck!

      • +3

It is not luck. There's a couple of reasons to be targeted. One, you might not have attached the AMEX card to Amazon account in the past. in this case no. But have you used your AMEX card for Amazon purchases? Probably but maybe less than non targeted users. Other considerations would be how often do you shop on Amazon.

Lastly if you previously used an AMEX deal such as the prime membership using AMEX offer last year probably won't get it.

So I think to fully trick and make yourself targeted.

Use a non amex card for purchases on Amazon. Remove all references to amex card on your account. Shop less on Amazon and subscribe to prime using other credit cards

This eventually means they believe you need to increase your activity using AMEX and perhaps their algorithms will pick up your account being targeted for offers

It is the same concept used by Coles and Woolies giving better offers if you shop less one or the other

        • +1

I used Amex for my prime membership last time and used it for amazon purchase just last week but still I got the offer.

It might be that my purchase amount is small and they want me to spend more.

        • I received this offer via email for my Amex Platinum Charge Card, which happens to be my preferred method of payment for Amazon. Didn’t receive it for my other Amex card which i’ve used in the past for Amazon, but isn’t linked to my Amazon account at all.

    • Perhaps because I used AMEX last year for prime subscription so now no offers

      • I have got but haven't used that amex prime offer. Didn't get this.

  • I got in Amex gold and amex platinum

  • Plat edge primary card got it

  • Got it on Essentials primary, didn’t get it on Qantas Discovery primary.
Haven’t used the Essentials card on Amazon before.

And got it on wife’s Qantas Discovery primary, also haven’t used it on Amazon before.

    Not on any supps.

  • @ForumNinja where for art thou @Forumninja with a manual link?

    • +1

When it's targeted, as is indicated in the title, manual links are impossible.

  • Gc got 10 years expiry.

    • Good spotting! GC aren't excluded

  • Thanks, received on my primary Qantas only.

  • Silly question but how do we know if we are eligible for this deal, email comes through?

    • +2

Login to the app and check the offers section. If it's not there, you're not targeted.

      • I received it as a targeted email. It isn’t showing up in my App Offers section.

  • No such deal shown up. Need manual link

  • Got it on my primary discovery qantas, but not on the secondary.
    Thanks Op!

  • This would have been a nice one!

  • -2

Can you pay with PayPal with the link Amex?

    • +1

      No because that's a third-party payment processor

    • +1

I didn’t think Amazon accepted PayPal as a payment option.

  • got it on my 2month old qantas ultimate which is preferred payment for amazon in past few weeks

  • Targeted

  • +1

Sadly not in mine…. would be perfect for my amazon prime renewal in december…dough can't be used anyway.

  • +3

Saved the offer and then bought a gift card and got the email from Amex as expected. Thanks OP

    • +1

Bought an Amazon gift card or a third party gift card?

      • +1

        Amazon gift card

        • +2

Thanks. Just checking it was this or something else?

          https://www.amazon.com.au/Amazon-com-au-eGift-Card-Amazon-Lo…

I've not purchased an Amazon gift card previously. Is there anything I need to know?

          • +1

@DrRalph: I'd like to know as well. What's the advantage of buying a gift card, say $100 worth, over just spending $100 on Amazon?

            • +2

@[Deactivated]: I've not purchased an Amazon gift card before, so I don't want to get it wrong. Hence my question above.

Possible advantages of buying a gift card:
              1) Use it as a gift
              2) You don't have to buy something now. Gift cards can be used later. (perhaps during a sale)

              • +1

@DrRalph: 3) Option to effectively split payment (if you were to get 2 of these offers) Maximises the return at 20% where if you spend $200 you'd only be getting 10%
                4) Theoretically, you could resell it.

          • +1

@DrRalph: Yes this is what i buy. Best thing is that you can add the gift card as payment method in your walket and keep.using it for uour purchasestill the credit run out

            • @FiDad: Thanks. Appreciate the information.

            • @FiDad: Confirming that this worked for me.
