Looking to have a split system installed at our property. Medium size space so are considering a system from 5kw +
Have got a few quotes from installers and have narrowed it down to two brands:
1) Daikin Cora 5kw / Daikin Cora 6kw system
2) LG 5kw Wh-18 system
Just would like to know if anyone has these units and what are the positive and negatives you have found?

Have you had your LG for a while though? I think the WH series is fairly recent
Yeah its pretty old. So its probably not a fair judgement lol
I have had 3 Aircons installed in past year.
Every one quoting (6) including just installers - not just suppliers have said the brands to consider as quality are
Fujitsu
Daikin
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (Not electric)
Then
Panasonic
All were critical of LG, saying parts availability was poor.
That said my 2KW LG was 17 years old and still going.
My Fujitsus (2) were installed. 1 month later 1 died. The installer went AWOL, so finally called Fujitsu, they sent out a repair man, who found the install was faulty - damaged flange - and gas leaked out. They have fixed it and have made it no charge goodwill service.
Considering it involved 3 visits
1. To gas up (using nitrogen for test so not pollute with refrigerant), then leave to let it leak. (slow leak)
2. To check and find leak , fix and wait (second test)
3. To refill with refrigerant gas after making sure test of fix was working

Yes every installer than has given us quotes have also said the 3 brands. Seems like they are the most reliable.
Wow that sounds like a hassle and unfortunate that was the case. At least you didn't get charged haha.
I have the latest LG and love it. Quiet, runs smooth and the inbuilt wifi is awesome.
The best 2 units are Daikin and Mitsubishi Heavy Electric. Daikin has the better after sales support.
I paid ~$1650 installed for a 5kw daikin split system last year. It's great.
Before I bought mine I asked my extensive network of mates / work colleagues who are electricians, building managers, maintenance managers, etc and that was the consensus.
I also have a 10yo Daikin split system and it just keeps soldiering on.
Not sure about other brands. But LG also have a 10 year warranty cover
If you have a large area to heat/cool,
I would recommend Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Bronte series,
it is much better than Daikin (which I had)
MHI Bronte series was on special for $2600 installed,
for a 7.1kW cool & 8.0kW heat
I am very happy with mine.
I also suggest to get a ceiling fan installed at the same time,
it mixes the air up to give a constant heat,
either up high or down low

EDIT: This is based on owning an LG that sucks. Assume Daikin would be better.
